The fact that the tamers do all but kiss the ground that Ryo walks on is no less annoying here than it was in the previous episode (and makes me miss Rika), which is not helped by Ryo's continually stale personality. He even gives a cliché "farewell until meet again someday" speech before departing. Also, the whole reason that he leaves ultimately does not amount to anything. *Spoiler alert*, Cyberdramon's quest to satisfy his hunger for fighting is completely discarded once the kids return home. I will give him one thing, though: he is the only person in the whole series to actually live up to the appellation of "digimon tamer".
Aside from that, this is an acceptable episode. The German Expressionist inspired setting is interesting and a good change of pace from the predominant red hues. Room is even made for a tender moment when Takato finds a good luck charm and letter from his mom. It kind of echoes the brief moment in "Evil Show's His Face", when the kids briefly reflected on the fact that they are a long way from home, and is the first time anyone in this group has shown awareness that they are in a mysterious world with only each other to depend on.
We finally get to see the huge Majiramon in action, but the way he is beaten is thoroughly unsatisfying, and it makes little sense that Makuramon, who once before demonstrated considerable power, would so quickly hop to the sidelines.
