Blood is Thicker Than Water
JasonDanielBaker11 March 2012
Chase's powerful but morally bankrupt aunt Angela (Jane Wyman) sets up a business/sightseeing trip in the mountains for Lance (Lorenzo Lamas) and Cole (William Moses). Lance is supposed to inspect a reservoir which might prove very beneficial to the irrigation needs of Falcon Crest.

Cole is enticed to go along to inspect cave drawings in line with his interest archaelogy. Angela actually wants Cole there to watch Lance's back and remind him that she likes Cole and has entertained making him the heir to the family empire if Lance doesn't pan out.

Chase (Robert Foxworth) is suspicious and unsure whether his son Cole will be able to handle the rough terrain. Cole and Maggie (Susan Sullivan) suggest he go along and he agrees. Part of the reason he left his job as an airline pilot and resettled his family in Tuscany Valley was to spend more time with them. Cole reminds him that they haven't been camping since he was 9.

Cole falls off his horse breaking his leg and Chase sends Lance to get help. Yes, Lance - the guy who used dynamite to blow up their water tank, paid their workers to go elsewhere just before harvest etc. Lance, though he appears to be warming up to Chase and Cole when their backs aren't turned may not do the right thing.

Meanwhile crazy Emma (Margaret Ladd), Angela's daughter/Chase's cousin is acting even more unusual than usual and her sister Julia (Abby Dalton) is worried. Julia, Maggie and Maggie's daughter Vickie (Jamie Rose) look to get her professional help behind Angela's back. Emma, kept in isolation for much of her life knows something about the mysterious death of Chase's father, her beloved uncle Jason Gioberti (Harry Townes).

At this point the viewer is left to wonder why Chase, Maggie, Cole and the daughter Vickie are even talking to Angela or Lance after their various unsuccessful attempts to try to induce them to leave the valley and sell their land to her. Evidently the feud runs hot and cold. Chase characterizes Angela as "The Dragon Queen" and Jamie refers to her as a "Witch" in this episode. But they are still generally polite with each other.

Julia, Lance's mother and Angela's daughter gets along famously with Chase, Maggie, Cole and Vickie taking a little bit of the edge off the feud.
