Misanthrope = recluse

Warning: Spoilers
This episode shows what happens when boys get too inquisitive. It begins when Sandy and Bud see a nice yacht in the lagoon and swim over to meet the owner. He is a reclusive writer of thrillers and tells the boys to beat it. Meanwhile a couple (muscle man and a blond) steal valuables from people's boats and cabins. Porter warns his boys of the thefts.

The boys head for the lagoon to skin dive meanwhile the thieving couple are staking out the yacht because they saw the writer draw out $2,000 in cash. Just as they plan to case the yacht, Sandy and Bud walk up. The muscle man distracts them with a showoff routine and persuades the boys to go aboard the yacht. As they climb aboard they hear what sounds like a crime being planned but its really the writer playing back the script of his latest crime novel. The couple climb aboard just as the writer comes out - he's mad to see the snooping boys on his boat but the muscle man puts a sleeper on him and he's out cold. Sandy and Bud still think the writer is the crook and Sandy's next instinct is to call his Dad on the yacht's radio but the real thieves react by locking the boys in the front hold as they scour the interior for the money.

Flipper gets Porter while Sandy tries to chisel away at the locked door. The thieves find the money and come out just as Porter arrives but they have him covered by a gun and while Porter and muscle man fight, the blond knocks Porter out with the butt of his gun. The thieves try to make off but Flipper tips their boat, the writer and Porter come to and, while Porter rounds up the thieves, the writer goes down below to release Bud and Sandy. They realize its not their Dad and still think the writer is a criminal so Sandy whacks him with a timber stake! In the end the boys come to know who the writer is and they are very apologetic.

Four humorous incidents in this episode: 1 - Sandy tries to shoulder charge a door that opens inwards; 2 - As the boys take the knocked out writer out of the front compartment, Bud tries to lift his upper body as Sandy takes his legs and says "I could've got him myself!"; 3 - The next we see of the writer he comes up the hatch with an army helmet on after being knocked out twice! and 4 - as the writer brings up his tape recorder he says "is it OK to play this thing or will the two monsters hurl themselves at me again".

A few good scenes
mitchrmp2 November 2012
The story line in itself is sort of interesting. After all, what two boys wouldn't want a good mystery to solve? And I suppose the mystery is good enough. It involves your classic thing: thieves posing as two good friends the boys believe to be the good guys, an abduction to keep a secret and threats of drowning them once their work is done, a good fight that includes wide screen view so we can see the warden being thrown around on two boats then hit in the head...And the boys doing something they believe is heroic at the annoyance of their father.

But the fall Warden did was a bit fake and unbelievable. The fight was a little overdone. The attempted escape was a bit too obvious...

Flipper is always in character with his strange sounds and his dancing on the water tricks.

Muscle Man and the Blonde
wes-connors26 September 2007
After playing with Flipper, Sandy (Luke Halpin) and Bud (Tommy Norden) investigate a suspicious boat anchored nearby - it's bearded inhabitant Monroe Myers (as Anthony Dauber), who raises a paddle to the boys, telling them to "beat it!" Meanwhile, muscular Michael Masters (as Pete) and beautiful blonde Jan Harrison (as Joanna) are pilfering area boats. When Ricks (Brian Kelly) tells his sons about the burglaries, they suspect the bearded Mr. Myers, rather than the attractive, but crooked, couple, who entertain the Ricks kids with a weightlifting routine. When the duo go to rob Myers' boat, the find Sandy and Bud on board, and lock them up. Flipper must get Ricks to rescue his sons…
