Bill (Stuart Whitman) is an up n coming brash talented boxer. Unfortunately he lacks discipline prefering to put on a good show.
This annoys his manager Frank Berry (Robert Ryan.) A veteran boxer who turned trainer after being badly beaten by the man who is still the current world champion.
When a new promoter arrives on the scene. Frank knows it is only a matter of time that Bill will challenge the champion, whether he is ready or not.
Frank has to find a way to stop Bill when a championship is fixed. Even the champion tells Frank that Bill is not ready and he will get badly beaten.
A nicely told story that avoids the obvious pitfalls about boxing. Even with the 30 minutes running time there is even time for a romance subplot.
Well acted from the three main leads.
