Wow...Five-O gets around!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode begins with a long-haired sailor being followed by two guys--one who frankly looks too old for this sort of work. And, while I'm at it, the sailor needed a haircut, as even by the late Vietnam era standards (which had been relaxed) it was not within regulations. I know these details might seem too picky, but this just seemed a bit sloppy. It also seemed bizarre that the man turned out to have been murdered in a wildly improbable manner.

Eventually, this sailor keels over dead on the street. You then learn that the men following him were with naval intelligence and they'd been keeping an eye on him because he was a suspected drug dealer. Now what happens next is way off the improbability scale. Instead of the navy investigating the matter on board the ship that was suspected of trafficking in narcotics, Five-O sends Danny, and later McGarrett on a covert mission. Dressed as sailors, they dig until they figure out who is responsible for bringing in shipments of heroin. I severely doubt that policemen from Hawaii would be sent days out to see to conduct such a mission--covert or not! Overall, while it's all pretty interesting, the show is problematic because one wildly improbable story element on top of another occurs. Suspending disbelief occasionally is not a serious problem--doing it repeatedly is. As a result, I am probably being generous in giving it a 6.

By the way, in an odd coincidence, it's interesting that David Birney and David Doyle (who appear in this show as a drug dealer and a drug courier working for the dealer) star in the show. That's because only a few months later, they'd star in "Bridget Loves Bernie"--with Doyle playing Birney's father-in-law! And, while the cab company also was used in other episodes (such as the next one, "R&R&R"), I laughed when I saw David Birney getting in a cab from 'Bernie's Cab Company'.
