Farcical

Warning: Spoilers
I have nothing against lighter comedic moments in a cop show, but Homicide's trademark gallows humor is one thing, this farce is another. Remember Trapped in Paradise, that comedy with Nicolas Cage on the run with his idiot criminal brothers John Lovitz and Dana Carvey? Here we have a similar premise, with Kellerman (Reed Diamond) in the Cage role.

The other storyline focuses on a journalist, Elizabeth Wu, who deals with a case followed by the Homicide unit, proving to be resourceful but not really up for the major league. Interesting idea, average execution.

poor casting, for journalist

'homicide: life on the street' is one of my favorite TV series of all time (joined by groucho marx's 'you bet your life,' sid caesar's 'your show of shows' and 'moon over Miami'), but this episode really suffered from a poor choice for the role of the journalist -- the actress wasn't at all credible as a crime reporter -- how could she be a journalist for a top u.s. newspaper when her English wasn't very good, she sure didn't dress for the part, nor did she behave like a crime reporter -- she just didn't pull off the role

all i can think, is that the network wanted another pretty woman, and somebody wanted to include another Asian

disappointing, for a top-notch show
