One of the more entertaining episodes
Miles-105 October 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This entry in the series overcomes any story-telling flaws by being fast-paced and full of exciting twists and turns. It is reminiscent of a James Bond plot as the heroes go undercover only to discover that they cannot trust anyone and every attempt to get out of trouble ends up getting them further in it. The villains are formidable and menacing despite an entertaining comic touch. Lola herself sneaks up on you as you do not initially realize that she is behind it all.

An odd opening reveals Honey's client as a brutal murderer. It gives us something to worry about when we see that this is the man Honey is going to work for.

Those who enjoy explosions will find that this is one of the "Honey West" episodes that has them.

Whatever Lola Wants....
Prismark1014 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It starts off with a man being pursuit by someone who kills him. The killer turns out to be Honey West's latest client.

He is pursuing some baddies who embezzled millions and left his brother top carry the can.

He wants Honey to go to a lavish party so the baddies can be cornered.

It is a case where Honey West should had listened to Sam as they land even deeper in trouble.

A pretty action packed episode stolen by Audrey Christie as Lola Getz. She relishes being evil.

I'm not sure what happened, but it was fun

Warning: Spoilers
From IMDb: "Honey goes to a charity party to find out where an embezzler has banked his ill-gotten gains, but learns the man who hired her is a murderer."

I didn't bother with trying to come up with my own plot summary, mainly because I'm not sure I could. None of it makes much sense. But that hardly matters when an episode is this much fun. South American bad guys, a crazy old dame with a gun, a pen that shoots a stunning mist, secret passages behind mirrors, Honey in a box, explosions, murder, and more. Whatever Lola Wants... has more action than most shows pack into a full hour. I also liked the final scene with Honey and Sam. It's a small moment, but it give a little insight in to their relationship. The episode may not be perfect, but I enjoyed it.

In this edition of Name That Character Actor, we have Johnny Haymer. He may not be as well known as some of the others, but if you watched much TV in the 70s, you'll recognize him. He has a memorable sort of face.

HONEY IN HIGH SOCIETY!
tcchelsey29 January 2023
The man of action tv, John Peyser directed this episode, credited for such shows as COMBAT, THE UNTOUCHABLES and HAWAII FIVE O. The stark opening chase scene tells all with a goon being chased down and eventually stabbed in the back. Here, Honey rubs shoulders with the elite, running into notorious gamblers, hiding out in the home of socialite Lola Getz. Note the play on words. This is a cool little story where nobody could be trusted and very well acted. Trivia bit: Honey pulls up in her muscle car to the famous Hollywood Knickerbocker Hotel, home of such stars as William Frawley (I LOVE LUCY). Frawley often took strolls around the hotel and it would have been neat had the crew spotted him signing autographs. SEASON 1 EPISODE 6 Officially on dvd.
