'The Ice Bandits' features one of my favorite car chases right in its very opening. Southern California's normally used as a stand-in for other locations (anywhere; even CSI: Miami), but not here. Michael's making a stop in what's clearly Los Angeles, and seeing K.I.T.T. burn rubber in the iconic L.A. riverbed is pretty great. It's also a pretty good chase scene.

And the episode never really loses that momentum, even as Michael travels deep into wine country. It helps that the bad guys had to go and pistol whip Devon, making this just a big personal. And driving through vineyards means we get to see the Trans Am actually get dirty, if only for a second.

Its a rock-solid episode; the case is good, the Napa scenery's easy on the eyes, and I don't think K.I.T.T.'s ever been more pompous. Good mix of Hasselhoff stunts and humor.

Drippin in ice

Only in Napa can you get a face transplant in the basement of a winery that operated by monks. This particular damsel is in more distress than usual and the concept is odd, but its still not too bad.

Nice car chases

A collection of diamonds is stolen from a Foundation sponsored charity auction. Michael and Kitt follow one of the thieves to the Monestary of the Grape in Napa. Here a plastic surgeon is providing criminals with new faces for a percentage of their takings.

Solid car chases, karate-judo moves from the Hoff, the Nape scenery and the humour regarding the donkey and Kitt give this episode a boost from the ordinary. The idea of a monastery where criminals can be given a new face is offbeat.
