'The Ice Bandits' features one of my favorite car chases right in its very opening. Southern California's normally used as a stand-in for other locations (anywhere; even CSI: Miami), but not here. Michael's making a stop in what's clearly Los Angeles, and seeing K.I.T.T. burn rubber in the iconic L.A. riverbed is pretty great. It's also a pretty good chase scene.
And the episode never really loses that momentum, even as Michael travels deep into wine country. It helps that the bad guys had to go and pistol whip Devon, making this just a big personal. And driving through vineyards means we get to see the Trans Am actually get dirty, if only for a second.
Its a rock-solid episode; the case is good, the Napa scenery's easy on the eyes, and I don't think K.I.T.T.'s ever been more pompous. Good mix of Hasselhoff stunts and humor.
8/10
