General Sherman visits Sherman station
bkoganbing3 December 2017
No less a celebrated visitor than army chief of staff and Union war hero than William Tecumseh Sherman is scheduled to stop at Sherman station. But an old army friend of John Smith's played by Brian Keith stops off as well and he's up to no good.

Keith is part of a plot to assassinate Sherman. Not for any great political reason, but as a matter of revenge for John Hoyt who was Keith's immediate superior in the late Civil War.

General Sherman had Hoyt courtmartialed and cashiered from the army for sacrificing a couple of companies of troops to cover up a tactical blunder he made. Hoyt just wants some payback.

Smith is disgusted to learn how little knew of the character of Keith because service under fire will usually bring out the total character of anyone there to all around him. Apparently not so in Keith's case.

Hoyt's a piece of work as coldblooded and as egotistical a creature as you would ever want to meet.

As we know there was no assassination attempt on William Tecumseh Sherman. See how Slim Sherman and Jess Harper foil the dastardly attempt.
