Vera Miles brings reality (somewhat sanitized but this IS the late 50's/early 60's) to the sad and pointless life of the working girls in the Old West. I appreciated the writing in this episode.

Prime Vera Miles

Vera Miles is a treat to watch in this episode. Strong, smart and vulnerable. Rare role for a female TV character in 1960. Sandcrab's review sounds like sour grapes; as tasteless as a crab apple. John Smith also exhibits seldom required range of emotions in this episode. Strong support from several veteran character actors. Strong episode.

Warning: Spoilers
In this Laramie episode Slim Sherman is serving as shotgun rider on a run and looking forward to meeting his father's old friend Ross Elliott. Driving is a new
man Myron Healey who does save John Smith's life from outlaws. But the
$10,000.00 of Overland Stagecoach money they're carrying proves to big a temptation. Healey robs the stagecoach himself and shoots Elliott.
Slim Sherman for the most part is a cowboy hero, but having no answers as to where to look he romances Healey's girlfriend, saloon entertainer Vera Miles. It's not usually the way for a cowboy hero. As for Miles she's been knocked about her whole life one way or another
The end of course is a shootout with John Smith and Healey and Healey's equally bottom feeding brother Jan Merlin.
Guest stars take center stage as Miles does a good job as the tragic saloon girl looking in vain for some happiness and Healey in one of his patented villain roles.

That may or may not be true ... here we see denver steaming pyle of crap yet again playing a worthless lawman giving the woeful slim sherman a hard time and guest vera miles warming to him ... myron healey and jan merlin once again play the nasty outlaws with chris alcaide tossing in his 3 cents ... lots of blame to go around and john smith isn't accepting it... another pathetic lame episode
