Sometimes you can just ask too much from your children. Ward is temporarily under the thumb of June's aunt as June is leaving to be with her sister for a few days. Bad for Ward, but terrible for Beaver.
What did June buy, break or lose? If she's making a special dinner then something drastic is coming: it is in the form of Aunt Martha. Aunt Martha has never been married, thus never had children, and doesn't understand boys at all: she's a perfect choice to put in charge.
Wally is a lost cause, he's a teenager. But Beaver perhaps can be molded into a Bronson, June's family name. Well if a Bronson is supposed to look like Little Lord Fauntleroy, then Beaver is a success. But god help him if any of his friends see him: he looks like a chicken with all his feathers taken off, which is Wally's apt description. Aunt Martha intends for Beaver's friends to see him; the new clothes are for school. Fine if Beaver was attending an 1880's boarding school in New England. Unfortunately, Beaver is attending school in 1957 Mayfield.
Beaver, that is Theodore is doing his best to humor Aunt Martha. If only Ward would say something. Wally got Beaver to school early in the hope no one would see him. Beaver is doing his best to avoid everyone but at the end of the day he is surrounded. Larry calls Beaver a sissy and that's it. Beaver goes at everyone, including Judy Hensler. Mr. Bloomgarden breaks up the fight, but by looking at Beaver he sees the problem and just sends Beaver home.
Wally tells Ward that Beaver got into a fight at school. It wasn't his fault; It was Aunt Martha's. Ward decides he has to talk with Aunt Martha, but before he can start June calls and that pretty much puts Ward's talk on hold. June again goes on and on about how Aunt Martha is her favorite Aunt. Will Ward throw Beaver to the wolves again? It seems so. Theodore is setting off to school wearing the same outfit; and worse, she is making Theodore take an umbrella.
Ward has been waiting outside for Beaver. He has a change of clothes for Beaver. Ward doesn't want to hurt the feelings of June's favorite Aunt, but he has to protect his son. When he reaches down to take the umbrella away from Beaver, Beaver gives his dad a hug and a kiss and says his father is just like one of the guys. Ward beams.
June is back and everyone is taking Aunt Martha to the airport. Beaver is wearing the suit. He loves his mom, so he doesn't want to hurt Aunt Martha's feeling either. Beaver is a boychik, but I don't believe he will ever make it completely as a Bronson.
