Very good theme here of greed and the dissolution of a marriage.

In an attempt to always please his selfish wife, a husband passed bad checks and went to prison for it. The wife and their young daughter ran away. The child was brought up thinking that the father was dead.

When the father sees his wife, a brash blond manicurist to begin to renew their lives and the daughter is brought to her senses. The father and mother had met after the father visited where mother worked at the barber shop and witnessed first-hand the daughter's desire for money. The daughter reminded me in a way of the Ann Blyth, Veda character in "Mildred Pierce" without the violence.
