I'm not having what she's having.

Warning: Spoilers
Loretta Young gets to go completely over the top in this comedy episode of her anthology series which I'm glad is not a feature length film. 20 minutes of her acting giddy and even drunk is satisfactory for this plot line of her getting laughing gas while having a tooth extracted. the first few minutes of the film has her dealing with the pain while trying to get things done as the secretary to boss Hugh O'Brian. She gets to express her jealousy towards O'Brien's former fiancee, Hillary Brooke, deals with the flirtation of one of O'Brian's clients, and finally breaks down to go see dentist Dabbs Greer. The use of laughing gas makes her act over the top, and in all my years in visiting dentists, I've never seen anybody overreact this way due to painkillers.

While she is obviously having fun, Loretta actually comes off silly as she takes the effects of the laughing gas way too far. She has a nice fantasy where she gets to be the center of attention rather than her rival Brooke and flirts with boss O'Brian which makes her fiance George N. Neise violently jealous. So while there are some amusing moments this takes the prattfalls way too far, and I'm sure if you did a poll of dentists, they'd say that something like this could not happen. I remember an episode of "Ellen" where she reacted a bit more subtly too laughing gas, probably far more realistic than how this comes off. Still, it's nice to see loretta, who could sometimes be way too grand in her films, let loose a bit and even get to show off her talent as a dancer.

Besides showing her comic side in the her fantasy world while under sedation, we again get to see Loretta dancing with a professional grace that rivals her acting talent. What a pleasure to observe and learn even more about one of the great actors of our time.
