Stanley's Television Debut
JordanThomasHall12 December 2016
Stanley (Dom DeLuise) is filling out an application for a part in a television commercial. His lazy brother-in-law Arthur (Wynn Irwin) critically chimes in, "What as? A tub of lard?" It's for the bus company's "Driver Dan", and Arthur thinks Stanley can get the part for his average looks. It pays $600 for a series of four commercials, but Stanley wants the part for the fame. Arthur's intuition appears right as Stanley gets an audition based on his average looks. The director (Ronnie Schell) wants to test him for the part but insists he lose 10 pounds by the next week. Stanley doesn't seem to live up to the director's expectations, but maybe that's more of who "Driver Dan" really is.

Ronnie Schell, best known as "Duke" from "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C", plays the part of the commercial's director Skip in this episode. He co-starred in a previous one-season series by "Lotsa Luck" creators Carl Reiner, Bill Persky and Sam Denoff entitled "Good Morning, World" (1967-68). Jerry Fogel, who played Jerry Buell in the 1967-69 series "The Mothers- In-Law, is Schell's assistant director Buzz.
