Monty Landis and Arnold Moss

Broadcast no. 35 (Sept 25 1967), "Everywhere a Sheik, Sheik" was the third episode in a row for Monty Landis, but the first to be aired (36th in production, filmed Apr 25-27). He plays the King of Nehudi, whose daughter, Princess Colette (Donna Loren), must find a husband or marry the evil Vidaru (Arnold Moss). Davy's photo prominently displayed in an open magazine, The Monkees are quickly targeted by Vidaru's henchman (William Bagdad), finally resorting to explosive goblets when poison, knives, and paperweights prove unsuccessful. Bagdad later appeared in the Monkees movie "Head," while Arnold Moss will be familiar from STAR TREK's "The Conscience of the King." Both songs are from the forthcoming fourth LP, PISCES AQUARIUS CAPRICORN & JONES LTD.- "Love is Only Sleeping," a psychedelic masterwork composed by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, was recorded June 19, sung by Nesmith, who plays guitar, with Tork on organ, Jones on tambourine; and "Cuddly Toy," composed by future hitmaker Harry Nilsson, jointly sung by Davy and Micky, the first track recorded for the album (Apr 26), featuring Nesmith on acoustic guitar, Jones on tambourine, Tork on electric piano, and Dolenz on drums. Nilsson would later contribute the Davy Jones number "Daddy's Song" for the movie "Head" (the blonde actress dancing with Davy is choreographer Anita Mann). Next in production- "The Devil and Peter Tork."
