How did Miles spring from these two?

Warning: Spoilers
Richard Libertini and Kelly Bishop guest star as Miles' parents who are nothing like what he has told Murphy about them. In fact, they are complete opposites of Miles: confident, rebellious, opinionated and absolutely delightful to be around. And for some reason, he is completely embarrassed by them. How do parents like this, involved in serious social protest, squire someone as nebbish as Miles? Certainly he's politically aware, but he's afraid of his own shadow while they are completely absent of fear. Grant Shaud has great comic timing in showing Miles' insecurities, showing a different take on the slow burn that filled with nervousness, as well as his embarrassment over their presence. There are lots of funny twists that ends up with all of the Silverbergs in jail, and it's obvious that Miles will come out of this a bit stronger even if all that comes out of this is him accepting them for who they are.
