Take a joke will yas

Brilliant show. If you find it offensive your part of the problem with this PC nonsense that has corrupted the minds of today. Comedy is suppose to be taken with a pinch of salt. Enjoy it or don't. Keep watching or move on.....

Did NOT age well

Warning: Spoilers
This episode has fatphobic and offensive moments yet somehow gives a fat positive message in a back handed way. The characters wear fat suits and are depicted to be gross, unhealthy, and gluttonous while explaining that they are "big and happy" while in a nightmare.

Did not age well

I love this show, but this episode was not it. It was so outwardly fat phobic that it made it really difficult to watch. Showing the whole cast in fat suits and shoving their faces with bacon really puts a gross aspect to being overweight. It reminded me of how openly toxic the world was towards bigger women. I know this is definitely a sign of the times and I'm sure they wouldn't have made this episode today, but rewatching it was so difficult and made me feel "icky". Jay is not a big girl, and to have the whole bed tilt when she sits down is ridiculous. Also the fact that he had to go on erectile dysfunction medication because he wasn't attracted to her is really a sad story line. Again, love this show - but this episode sucked.

Thought I'd give this show a re-watch and it just keeps getting worse!

I got 5 minutes into this episode and had to turn it off, no wonder 90s kids are so messed up! Who thought this was ok?!

Just sad

I know the show is old, but wow.... It goes past jokes about gaining weight and goes straight to hurtful statements and reaffirming that big girls don't deserve to be loved.

Creating body image issues
uniquelyowned21 November 2021
This episode is quite wrong. Jay isn't even big and even if she was who cares.

Yet we wonder why people of my generation have body image issues!!!!

Can totally understand why this show isn't on anymore with episodes like this.

Poorly aged media

Warning: Spoilers
I understand this was done for comedic purposes and maybe the actress for Jay was ok with this but it was just not funny. I have never reviewed an episode of a tv show on here yet but I had to say something about this. Michael says he's not attracted to her causes she fat and getting on ERECTILE dysfunction pills. That's just absurd and a horrible way to establish their love right after Jay comes back from a 4 episode absence. Jay isn't even fat at all which makes this episode even more confusing. The jokes made against Jay were just so cruel and over the top. The show is useally over the top and it useally it's the mark but this episode completely misses in every way. The episode ends with Jay having a dream where she sees a future where her impact of being "fat" will affect the family. It's honestly horrible and I don't know how this got approved. I guess it was a different time, again I'm not a snowflake or anything but if you watch this you will understand why I made this review.

Ew

When anyone asks why anyone who grew up in the 90s/00s came out with disordered eating and body image issues this should be held up as a PSA.

That whole time was relentless about coding bigger people as stupid, bad, gross, unworthy etc next to the good, smart, desirable skinny people but it wasn't usually as blatant about it as this. This consolidates that whole hostile landscape and puts it into 20 minutes of pure overt, unadulterated contempt.

When you've spent 20 years trying to deprogram from this way of thinking and then come across it again...idk, it's almost vindicating in a way, like in a "I knew I wasn't crazy, it really was everyone else" kinda way. That's the only redeeming thing I can say about this episode and it's hardly glowing praise.

Whole thing is better off forgotten.

Tactless
christie-ensley17 February 2022
This episode was tactless and in poor taste. There are better ways to raise awareness about obesity or tell parents that they need to set a healthy example for their kids that won't make anyone who is slightly (because his wife wasn't that much heavier that before) overweight feel like an animal. I just started watching this show from the beginning and have enjoyed it up until this episode I hope there are no others like it.
