Stan's Cashflow Problem!
ShadeGrenade27 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Flat broke again, Stan borrows from 'Basher', who works at the depot. Basher wants his money back within a few days else he will show Stan how he earned the nickname.

Stan wonders how to repay him. Salvation comes in the shape of Iris, whose mother is moving house. Stan and Jack agree to convey her furniture in their bus.

Stopping off at a bookies to have a flutter, they are horrified to find the bus gone when they leave...

Messrs.Wolfe and Chesney contributed not one script to the sixth season of 'On The Buses'. They were probably too busy with 'Romany Jones', their other hit sitcom of the early '70's. Thanks to writers such as Bob Grant, Stephen Lewis, George Layton and Jonathan Lynn, their absence was not as serious as it might have been.

This episode follows the same pattern as 'Cover Up' in that Stan makes personal use of his employer's property, only to then be found out by Blakey. Rather than give the driver the sack, he simply stops the money out of Stan's wages. You'd think Stan would have learnt his lesson by now.

Funniest moment - Arthur is fixing tiles on the kitchen wall. Nearby, Mum and Olive are baking a birthday cake for Aunt Maud. If I were to mention that Arthur's cement and Olive's icing are both yellow, can you possibly guess what happens next?

Stan's in financial trouble again.
Sleepin_Dragon25 November 2022
Short of funds, Stan is convinced by Jack to take a loan from the aptly named Basher, known for lending money, and causing pain to those that don't repay.

Not my favourite episode, but still quite a good one, I wouldn't say there's anything particularly unique here, but it's still a good watch, with one hilarious scene. Stan is skint once again, he's always skint.

The laugh out loud seeing of course being the moment with the cake, you know full well what's coming, but that doesn't matter, it was brilliantly done, the tiles, I laughed out loud.

They could have made a little more out of Basher, he was a good character, but didn't get enough to do.

It always made me laugh when the guys called Blakey 'Dracula,' and when he popped out of the boot, that name was perfectly apt.

6/10.

More money making madness!
Rabical-9125 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Stan is behind on paying mum her housekeeping so has to borrow money from a fellow busman by the name of Basher ( who warns Stan he will show him how he got the name if he does not pay him back ).

Later, to earn a bit more money on the side, Stan and Jack make use of their bus to help Iris ( who is the manager's secretary ) move house...

An okay episode but it starts to dry up somewhat in the second half. I always wondered why Stan always got embroiled in Jack's get rich quick schemes when time after time they backfired! Obviously not familiar with the term 'once bitten, twice shy!'.

Ursula Mohan, in what would be her last appearance in 'On The Buses', plays Iris.

Funniest bit - Olive using tiling cement on her homemade cake, thinking it to be icing. Guess what Arthur has been using to put up tiles in the kitchen?
