First love, first heartbreak

Warning: Spoilers
A very cute older girl(who played Beaver's or Wally's girlfriend on Leave it to Beaver) comes for a visit and Mark is is instantly smitten, even telling his dad that he wants to buy a piece of land from him so he can build a house so he and the girl can get married. WOW. The facial expressions his dad makes while Mark is telling him about the girl are priceless. Usually level headed Mark really loses his mind over this girl. Then he learns she likes another boy who is older and Mark thinks him to be no good for her, so he challenges the boy to a fight and Mark gets smacked around pretty good. She shuns the boy after that and thanks Mark who is now happy even though she is going to leave town. But it ends well at the end when she gives Mark 2 kisses as she is leaving town and Mark seems to be happy.

I felt bad for poor Mark.

Perhaps I was expecting too much but this episode just was not my 'fancy'. I am sure that this episode will appeal to many but I felt so bad for Mark that I could not enjoy the show.

In all begins when Milly's niece, Sally Walker, rides into North Fork on the stage. When Mark puts eyes on the young and beautiful Sally, no one can stop the hormones from flowing. The usual even keel Mark goes into a silly trance and the first taste of love knocks the boy for a loop. Everything is look like a very interesting story until Sally reveals that she is here to see an old boyfriend named Bruce Henry. - Talk about throwing water on a fire.-

The rest of the show features Mark unable to see the truth and instead lives in a fantasy where Sally and him will marry. It is even quite humorous when he tells his father that he is thinking about settling down. But Sally could have other plans.

There are some nice things going on in the episode that includes Mark singing one of his soon-to-be-released songs, but for some reason I felt bad about the entire situation. Mark even makes a complete fool of himself in a way that was hard to watch. Maybe I am being to sensitive about the matter but it looks like something good could happen to Mark's life away from the glaring eye of his Pa.
