A very unique script for the series.

In this unique script from a Rifleman series, we have Lucas and Mark facing situation which are very different but yet the same. And each will find they are more like each other than anyone thought.

Mark's situation involves a large deer that is named Old Spike. Each year the deer comes around and teases Mark by letting him get close. This is the year that Mark is going to finally kill the deer and fulfill his dream. He begins the hunt.

Lucas has word that Reef Jackson is in North Fork. It seems that Reef shot Lucas in the back many years ago because Reef wanted Lucas's wife. Lucas has been seeking revenge on Reef the moment he finds him. Lucas begins the hunt.

This is an interesting tell where each will learn a bit about themselves. And we, as the viewer, will be along for the ride as each faces situations they have been waiting for for years. Will they be able to follow up on a goal each has set.

A very interesting script.

Parallel Storylines

I just watched this episode on MeTV. It's an interesting concept for the series. Both Lucas and Mark are confronted with killing an old nemesis. Mark's is a huge buck deer called Spike. Lucas faces the return of his sworn enemy, Reef Jackson. Spike had been mocking Mark for years, in Mark's mind, by letting Mark get close but unable to shoot him, as he didn't have a rifle. Now Mark has one and is determined to finally kill Spike. Reef Jackson had shot Lucas in the back in an attempt to get Lucas' wife, even though they were best friends. Now Reef is back and Lucas' hatred boils over.

How Mark and Lucas each deal with their bloodthirsty quests is the basis for this episode. How each resolves the need to kill is the moral of the story.

Be sure to watch for the actress playing the elderly "Granny." That's 43-year old K. T. Stevens, who needed a lot of makeup to appear a "Granny." She made five appearances on the series.

A good episode which will keep you interested.

Here we have...,

Here we have a vengeance-filled McClane obsessed with murdering a long time nemesis. The premise is credible, but seeing McClane hell bent on executing someone yet again is a bit over the top for this viewer. BTW, the 4th panel in the opening credits when Charlie Connors looks into the camera is NOT broken as someone mentioned in the "Trivia" section.
