Ending was rushed!

I enjoyed most of the episode, except for the rushed ending. It's almost like a five minute whistle blew, & they had to wrap it up quickly to clear the set for another show! Was Sam Peckinpaw drunk?! This story should've been told in 2 parts. It's almost like Lucas' punch changed John Dehner's character's personality instantly! Too bad. Shoulda/coulda been way better.

There is a lot of problems with this story.

When a strange religious man that carried a mean whip, Wood Bartell, rides into to North Fork with the main purpose of finding his estranged wife and infant child. When he finds his wife, Leona, she is singing in a saloon for the drunks. Wood demands that she give the baby to him.

Then the episode gets even more odd when of all the people that live in the town of North Fork, Leona picks Lucas to take the baby for safe-keeping. With a town loaded with women and married couples, she picks Lucas to keep her child.

Well for TV sake Lucas takes the child but it will only be a matter of time before the bizarre stranger finds the whereabouts of the infant.

There was nothing wrong with the acting in this episode since all the people were veteran actors. The problem was with the story. Not only about why the infant was given to Lucas but also the how in the world did the strange religious man and the loose saloon woman ever was close enough to have a child. It just did not make sense.
