Very good start

This episode started a terrific series, although it seems as if I'm in the minority with that opinion, but this was a surprisingly good segment for a series opener. The Sixth Sense only had a total of 25 episodes, but mostly all of them were interesting with some solid acting performances and original stories. Back to this episode, which stars Belinda Montgomery as Tina Norris, she has visions of seeing a man, who is either her boyfriend/husband/brother(I couldn't tell with the poor editing), being held captive during the Vietnam war; the man is named Randy Blake(Kip Nivin), and the visions weren't the best of the series, but was adequate enough. Look for a very weird performance by Christina Crawford(Betty Blake), the adopted daughter of legend Joan Crawford, as this was her final acting performance, but it adds to the charm of this episode, I suppose. The final sequence of Randy's vision and him being eventually released was a bit underwhelming and seemed a bit rushed, but this is passable for the series opener.

Six Senseless

Apparently this was the network's answer to the failure of "Night Gallery" to pop in the ratings. This is the first of the "Sixth Sense" episodes starring Gary Collins. It has a nice hook with the image of a soldier missing in Vietnam appearing mysteriously, but unfortunately the episode dissolves to a lot of explanation and pontificating as to what's going on. The answer in the end is less than satisfying. Not sure why the network thought this was going to be something big, unless they were just looking for a vehicle to showcase Gary Collins talents. He's not bad in it, but I'm not that big a fan that I think I'd feel compelled to watch any more of these.

I so agree with zsenorsock. Night Gallery really wasn't that bad a show, it was never a favorite of mine, but still, it was watchable. Then along came the Gary Collins episodes and the show devolved into a tedious drag that I couldn't stand to watch. I was never a fan of the show, but it was a disappointment to see it ruined by the Gary Collins episodes.
