The Super Soldier and the Fountain of Youth
claudio_carvalho4 February 2018
Teal'c and Bra'tac find two slaughtered group of Jaffa and they discover that the responsible is a soldier with a special clothing that protects him from any weapon. Teal´c successively shots and defeat the enemy and bring him to SGC. Sam and Jacob / Selmak study him and find that the soldier is a flawed but powerful weapon wearing a protective clothing developed by the Goa´uld. Meanwhile Daniel Jackson and Dr. Bill Lee travel to Central America expecting to find an alien device that might be Ponce de León´s Fountain of Youth, but they are captured by rebels in the woods.

"Evolution: Part 1" is an engaging episode of "Stargate SG-1" to be continued. The segments of the super soldier and the fountain of youth are both intriguing and promising. My vote is eight.

The Kull Are Coming

Warning: Spoilers
Now we're talking action. You can't miss Evolution 1 or 2. Anubis has created his Kull super soldiers. It may change the balance of power.

This episode has everything that makes SG-1 great: Master Bra'tac, Jacob Carter / Selmak, Anubis, Daniel doing his archaeology thing, Jack's sarcastic chats with Jaffa, a great battle scene as they try to capture a Kul. It's dead center in the main Goa'uld story arc.

This kind of episode is why people like SG-1.

It ends with Daniel Jackson in trouble and the need for a bold plan to stop Anubis' latest scheme.

Don't miss it.

Predator

I'm sort of impressed that they were able to delay the inevitable supersoldier storyline for seven seasons. The main storyline premise is interesting but the Daniel subplot is uninspiring.

These multi-part episodes are usually good but this ain't it chief. Plot happens but nothing particularly interesting, fun, or even substantial to the narrative beyond a new toy for the badguys. Some of the progression is plain stupid too. It couldn't be more obvious a bunch of stuff is just thrown on screen to reach an end.
