****SPOILERS**** It's when Inspector George Turner, Clu Cluager, undercover police girlfriend Maggie Collins, Janis Hanson, was gunned down in a failed buy & bust sting that he decided to get even with the drug dealer Woody Parks, George Sawaya, who's main man drug dealer Nappy, Albert Powell, was the one who iced her. Getting a tip that Parks was about to pick up a kilo of heroin Turner busted him and without his partner Phil's, Alan Fudge, knowledge spikes the heroin with super powerful rat poison-Cyanide-and leaves it for Parks to distribute-through his main Man Nappy-to his drug addicted customers. It soon becomes apparent to the SFPD that a bad batch of heroin is on the streets of San Francisco with as much as three dozen addicts dropping dead after injecting it.
It's up to Det. Let. Mike Stone, Karl Malden, and his partner Inspector Steve Keller, Michael Douglas, to find out who's distributing the dangerous drug and thus prevent any more death before the entire junkie population of the city is wiped out along with the underground economy that supports them. The person whom Inspector Turner was out to get the man that his girlfriend Maggie tried to set up and arrest and got killed doing it Cajun, played by a youthful Clint Eastwood looking Anthony Geary, soon ends up getting his not by the police or Inspector Turner but by, in him also being a junkie, injecting the deadly smack himself! That's to him mistakenly trying to prove to his junkie and going into cold turkey girlfriend Amy, Ninette Bravo, that it's safe to take which turned out to be false.
***SPOILERS*** This entire urban horror comes full circle when Inspector Turner's son closet heroin junkie Andy, Mark Hamill, falls victim to his dad's insanity by taking a hit, in the arm, from Parks deadly stash and going into convulsions and finally, with his father present, dropping dead from it! Very probably the most disturbing "Streets of San Francisco" episode ever in the high body count in it that resulted mostly from contaminated drugs then any other kinds, like shooting stabbing & beating, homicides.
It's up to Det. Let.
