As always, Stiller & Meara were very good. You can tell it's the late 60's/early 70's. Their material is getting to be a little bit more risqué. It's nice to be able to see Richie Havens. He was at his peak here. Lesley Gore sings, Hey Jude. It's a medley combining it with Cry Me A River. Imagine that! John Gary was okay, but not memorable. It's very typical of the later shows. There is a real mix of genres. Ed is providing old fashioned entertainment in order not to alienate the old school audience, while at the same time striving to be hip and relevant. All things considered, in a time when there were only three major networks and no cable alternatives, Ed Sullivan provided the best opportunity to view a true cross section of the entertainers performing during the era.
