Alan's will
salgonjulien4215 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This seventeenth episode speaks about the decision of Alan to choose neither Charlie nor its mother as the guarding(nurse) of Jake if it turned out that he would die he and Judith. We have here a good solid episode with the relation Charlie-Jake which always pulls(entails) multiple funny situations in particular during the scene(stage) of the hospital. Charlie is once again in great form being of use to us a particularly incisive black humor and Jake makes us laugh by his(her) mixture of naivety and lucidity. Any injury time but can be a light lack of inventiveness at the level of the scenario which remains hungry. In spite of its small defects this episode asserts itself as one of time(weather) forts of this first season thanks to its varied humor (comic of repetition(rehearsal) with the cheeseburger and Alan's mobile(portable)) and constantly effective.

A very good early episode

It's hard sometimes to think that this is the same show that would years later become sex obsessed and increasingly ridiculous.

Back here in series 1 it's a show with a lot of heart, as well as humour, and this episode is all the better because of it.

There's actual signs of growth too from Charlie, as he tries to be a good Uncle to Jake.

It's such a shame that the writers got tired of this version of the show, and tweaked it into what it became.
