"It's Too Late For the Broom"
kgraovac29 November 2023
David gets an after school job at Val's auction house but gets too big for his britches; Mark runs for Student Council President with Willie as campaign manager.

This episode is superb and well-written. It is more of a RHODA-type episode which is always a good thing. Valerie must have been frustrated trying to keep up the quality of the scripts, while the producers wanted to make it more of a typical, bland, family-friendly Eighties sitcom with goofy jokes.

This is the first time we see Valerie in her work setting, which also includes Bruno (Carmine Caridi). Previously, we had only seen him as Willie's soccer coach. The scene where Val puts David in his place with a brutal speech about respect and class differences is amazing and one of the most realistic scenes of the entire series, played brilliantly.

The compact disc player David wants costs $538.

There is a Ronald Reagan joke that receives big applause: "You can only get so far on charm and charisma" and Willie gets called "Little Nixon" and makes Dickie's famous gesture with his hands.
