Nelson is brainwashed by The Reds and his mission is to Destroy Seaview!
If I want to see Nelson go a bit nuts I want to see it done with a bit of gusto on the part of Richard Basehart. Year one's The Fear Makers and year one's Mutiny are prime examples of Basehart doing this kind of drama with class. But Basehart's sleepwalking-acting in Destroy Seaview! Is almost enough to put me to sleep! Granted, he was brainwashed, not out of his mind like in Fear Makers/Mutiny, but maybe if he went a bit wild this hour would of been more fun.
However, the episode is worth watching just to hear a Lost In Space alien voice artist - Gregory Morton - use his voice for the guy on the radio talking to Nelson. Also, we get the traditional bang, bang stuff we expect in season three.
