The whip woman
searchanddestroy-113 October 2018
Nothing new here for Barbara Stanwyck, if you have already seen her in films as MAVERICK QUEEN, THE FURIES, FORTY GUNS or CATTLE QUEEN OF MONTANA. In all those movies, she played a strong woman, leading men and not sissies. Look out for her playing whip on spurs. What a woman !!! Besides this nothing new here.

One clever scheme

Barbara Stanwyck a female Hollywood icon who seemed born to the saddle even though she was from Brooklyn stars in this Zane Grey Theater production. Although in this case it's driver's seat of a freight wagon.

Stanwyck runs a freight line in the old west for her grandfather James Bell when a clan similar to those inbred Cleggs from John Ford's Wagonmaster arrive in town looking to put her out of business. Their methods include, intimidation, extortion, and murder if they have to.

With a freighting contract on the line and an idea from Grandpa Stanwyck thinks of one clever scheme to foil the bad Murdoch clan. Can't tell you what it is, but it pays off better than expected.

Robert Harris plays the Murdoch patriarch and John Archer plays Stanwyck's number one. The woman is also one good hand with a bullwhip.

Another quality Zane Grey Theater story.
