A FIRST LOOK AT THE SPIDER-WOMAN SERIES:
A Team Up With Spider-Man!!!!!!! Being Spider-Man already a favorite among the public when the Spider-Woman series was released, it is only natural IMO that, in order to give Jessica (that's Spider-Woman's civil name) a chance to be as popular and entertaining as her male counterpart, Stan Lee and the creators of the series gave her more powers and a life more or less less complicated that the one of Peter's. Even when both of them are reporters, it is very obvious that Jessica has a more comfortable life and struggles much less to make a living. With an amphibious helicopter, even when it is the property of the Justice Magazine she works for and her own office, she is a much more relaxed character than Spider-Man, who struggles to sell the photographs he takes to J.J. almost every episode.
They also made her more powerful, she has virtually all the Spider powers that Peter has, but she also counts with a venomous attack, the ability of flying (or at least gliding) and an improved version of the Spider-sense. With all this and a smooth personality that helped her to dissimulate all the times that she had to absent to become into her alter ego, we had a character that could concentrate much more in fighting crime and alien invasions than Spider-man. That of course does not mean that one of the best parts of this series wasn't to see both Spider-heroes team up like in the story of this first episode where they fight an alien nation of powerful mummies whose plan is to invade Earth and transform the whole population into walking mummies like them.
Spider-man in the plot is an old friend of Spider-Woman even when at the end they say good-bye as if it had just been the very first time they met, hoping that they can see and work together again someday. With some always cloudy skies no matter if the action was developed in London or Egypt and colors, textures and tones that give us the impression of all the action having been developed by nighttime, this episode and many in this show, just as the Spider-Man series before them- arise an interesting feeling of mystery and suspense seasoning the plot.
