This episode is probably the dullest that "Dark Shadows" has had in about a month prior to the exposition of Matthew as Bill's killer. Sam and Roger seem to be adversaries, but when they are around Burke, they have to pretend to be on the same side. The only memorable moment is Sam showing Roger his picture, claiming that he has no idea why he's painting it and what it is supposed to mean. Roger accuses Sam of being drunk, and while the viewer gets there first view of the painting, it really isn't anything truly frightening to look at.
I didn't even think that the painting looked like Laura, more like a poster for a cheap revival of "Saint Joan", and it's obvious that Laura Collins is no saint and certainly no Joan of Arc. We also get Burke with Carolyn. The episode culminates with one interesting tidbit of information, and Victoria when it's interesting to note that Colin would all of a sudden has some tacky Christmas decorations put up even though it is long after Christmas and no decorations have been seen prior to this.
