no substance

Words are difficult to describe this short piece made for the 48 Hour Film Project. Some words one might choose would be confusing, ambiguous, and illogical... all of the words one might use to describe another pesky student art film. But oh wait. There's something about this whole thing that doesn't set right. That's because this wasn't just made by a bunch of students. It was directed by a professor from the University of Maine. The director of photography, Draper, is a successful cinematographer with his own business with a good reputation. They spent a lot of money, they had elaborate sets, and they had an elaborate crew (a real FULL film crew with good equipment). So, what's the catch? Unfortunately, the film makes absolutely so sense at all. I'm not saying that in the same way one might say "Memento makes no sense." I mean, really, honestly, this film has absolutely no substance and no redeeming characteristics outside the fact that it looks nice. Art film? "Critic's Pick?" LOL. Who knows. You might want to ask the director...
