The new company represents a formalization of that partnership which has seen them work together on titles including “Honest Thief,” “Boss Level,” “Ainbo: Amazon Princess,” “Dreambuilders,” “The Misfits” and “Cosmic Sin.”
Galaxy’s 2024 releasing slate includes “Land of Bad,” starring Australia’s Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth, “Long Legs,” starring Nicolas Cage, “Sleeping Dogs,” starring Russell Crowe and Karen Gillan, “Armoured,” starring Sylvester Stallone, “The Canterville Ghost,” starring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, culinary romance “The Taste of Things” (aka “Pot Au Feu”) and “The Rule of Jenny,” starring John Lithgow...

SAG-AFTRA has handed out more interim agreements to film and television projects, including waivers featuring a new casting designation. An untitled Guy Ritchie film and Destry Allyn Spielberg’s directorial debut Please Don’t Feed the Children were among five films given an interim casting agreement as of Thursday.
This is the first time the union’s interim agreement list has featured two designations. According to the SAG-AFTRA website where the list appears, these new designations allows “members to audition and/or engage in negotiations regarding casting for these productions, but may not yet travel, rehearse, or otherwise begin rendering services for the production.”

It’s been a minute since we heard from Hungarian filmmaker Nimród Antal. After his international debut “Kontrol” proved to be a modest hit, Hollywood came knocking (20007’s “Vacancy” and 2009’s “Armored”), and he was handpicked by Robert Rodriguez to direct the 2010 “Predators” sequel that never really caught fire. Antal’s done work since those movies, obviously, but he’s taking another big shot at global exposure with “Retribution,” a new revenge thriller starring action dad Liam Neeson.

Hulu’s list of new releases for March 2023 features an event long in the making.
On March 6, History of the World, Part II will finally arrive more than 40 years after Mel Brooks’ classic comedy History of the World, Part I. first premiered. Of course, Brooks never had any intention of adding future parts to his ahistorical film, but that yet makes the arrival of Part II so many years later even funnier. Described as a four-night comedy event, History of the World, Part II will release two episodes a day through March 9. Brooks returns to write and executive produce this series and will star alongside Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, and Ike Barinholtz. Guest stars include…everyone. Basically just everyone.

It’s ironic but unavoidable that the greatest annual celebration of film should be a television special — but that’s just how it is. March often means Oscar season, a time for cinephiles to boot up that small screen you use for movies and use it to see if they win any awards during a telecast.
If you don’t have TV service anymore, Hulu has you covered with a pre-Oscars telecast as well as two red carpet specials before and after the main event. Though the ceremony itself won’t be livestreamed on Hulu, it will be added the next morning, like regular ABC programming. Awards viewership has been in general decline over the past several years, but next-day streaming gives curious viewers a chance to join the conversation and boost those Oscar ratings after the live show. It’s also a chance for superfans to pause and rewind...

Netflix is about to remove a alrge selection of movies and TV shows from its service.
Every month, without fanfare, numerous titles are removed from the streamer.
This means that, should something be on your watchlist, it will vanish until it’s added again.
Netflix doesn’t publicise the titles it will remove – and users will only be alerted to something’s imminent removal if they happen to select the title in question.
But, with help from the team at What’s on Netflix, we’ve compiled the full list – and you can find the compilation of everything being added this month here.

Though the confusingly named initiative “FX on Hulu” is on its way out, FX is still bringing premium television to Hulu in the meantime.
Hulu’s list of new releases for April 2022 is highlighted by FX limited series Under the Banner of Heaven. This adaptation of the non-fiction book by John Krakauer stars Andrew Garfield as a Mormon police detective whose faith is shaken when investigating a murder involving the church.
It’s not all just FX on the TV side of things for Hulu this month, however. The streamer is debuting second seasons of its series The Hardy Boys (April 6) and Woke (April 8). There isn’t much to report from Hulu’s original movies arm aside from true crime documentary Captive Audience on April 21. But that doc about one family’s 50-year journey for justice sounds like a must-watch.

Step aside Wall-e; there’s a new garbage movie in town. Chih-yen Yee revives everyday waste in “City of Lost Things,” a touching tale where a discarded plastic bag and boy unite in an ever-modernizing world. The film has already won its own fair share of accolades. Taiwan’s Golden Horse Film Festival designated this as their Best Animated Feature of 2020 and most recently, Annecy nominated the movie for their Contrechamps Competition. We caught a screener at the latter this year – and a conversation with the director, to boot. During our Zoom call, we cycle through Hollywood references, ecological themes, and the Taiwanese animation industry today.

As the star playing one of the McU’s most iconic characters, Robert Downey Jr.’s memorable and emotional curtain call as Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame felt like a legitimate loss for the franchise. Fans certainly thought so, and most people are still hoping that Marvel finds a way to bring the Armored Avenger back in some form or other.
Luckily for them, it sounds like they’ll soon get their wish. We’ve heard whispers of a possible return for Rdj for a while now and we’ve been told this week that the actor might make a cameo appearance sooner than we expect. According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who informed us that Ahsoka Tano will be in The Mandalorian, Taskmaster will be the villain of Black Widow and a She-Hulk show is coming to D+, all of which were correct – Marvel is working toward getting Robert Downey Jr.

Going into Avengers: Infinity War, fans were excited to see Robert Downey Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch share the screen as Iron Man and Doctor Strange. Not just for the fun of seeing the Armored Avenger and the Sorcerer Supreme trade quips, but also because both actors are known for playing Sherlock Holmes. It seemed like there was a strong likelihood of a “no sh*t, Sherlock” line slipping in somewhere.
As we know, though, no such line featured in the movie or its sequel, Avengers: Endgame. And Infinity War‘s writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have now explained why. ComicBook.com hosted a viewing party of the film over the weekend, with the scribes taking over the outlet’s account for the evening to offer their comments. When one fan asked them if they’d considered working in a “Sherlock Holmes nod,” McFeely responded: “Too meta for us.”

Avengers: Endgame might be getting all of the love this weekend, with fans taking to social media to celebrate its 1 year anniversary, but Avengers: Infinity War was also an incredible blockbuster in its own right and set the stage for what went on to be the highest-grossing film of all-time. Not to mention it also left us with one of the biggest cliffhangers, well, ever.
But as with all major Hollywood productions, some pretty interesting stuff was left on the cutting room floor. One sequence we’ve seen concept art of was a scene where Tony Stark and Stephen Strange would’ve swapped costumes. Meaning Doctor Strange would’ve got to don the Iron Man suit.
And now, thanks to Infinity War and Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, we have our very first proper look at the moment in question via the below Bts snap, which was shared on Twitter earlier tonight.

"Viszkis was one of the most famous bank robbers in Hungary. He drank whiskey before every robbing. This is his story." An official trailer has debuted for a film titled The Whiskey Robber, also known as The Whiskey Bandit or A Viszkis in Hungarian. This is the latest feature film from Hungarian-American filmmaker Nimród Antal, of Kontroll, Vacancy, Armored, and Predators in the past. The Whiskey Robber tells the true story of a Hungarian man named Attila Ambrus, also known as "Viszkis", who robbed 29 financial institutions in Budapest between 1993 and 1999. The only clue left behind at the crime scenes was the distinct aroma of whiskey. This looks like a fascinating, thrilling story of a man who just wanted to be happy and realized the only way to feel that was to collect money - mainly by robbing banks. Check this out. Here's an international trailer for Nimród Antal's The Whiskey Robber,...

It was back in 2003 that Hungarian director Nimrod Antal burst on to the international scene with his debut feature, Kontroll. A smart, slick title that was not at all what we'd been taught to expect from Eastern European cinema, Kontroll triggered a bit of a frenzy around Antal and Hollywood came calling. But while he tended to over deliver in the small to mid budget projects he was handed - Vacancy, Armored, Predators, Metallica Through The Never - the personality that caught so much attention in Antal's debut never quite came through in his Us efforts. Which means there is a certain amount of anticipation to see what Antal can do back in his native Hungary now that he has returned there for a...

Sound on Sight undertook a massive project, compiling ranked lists of the most influential, unforgettable, and exciting action scenes in all of cinema. There were hundreds of nominees spread across ten different categories and a multi-week voting process from 11 of our writers. The results: 100 essential set pieces, sequences, and scenes from blockbusters to cult classics to arthouse obscurities.
Part 2 of 10: A good car chase works for completely different reasons than its bipedal counterpart. Where a foot chase is more intimate, desperate, and rough, car chases are cool, exciting, almost romantic. Here the journey overwhelms destination: tough guys (and girls) driving sleek machines at impossible speeds. And unlike foot chases, there are no real limitations on where they can go or what they can do—sometimes cars can even fly.

Since they originally formed back in 1981, Metallica has gone from being an underground heavy metal band to one of the most successful musical acts in the world. The group’s nine studio albums have sold over one-hundred million copies worldwide, they have been nominated for and won dozens of awards, and their songs get more playtime on rock radio than any other band. While the band has already graced the silver screen in the documentary Some Kind of Monster (2004), they’ve returned now with Metallica: Through the Never, a unique hybrid film that blends a fictional narrative with real footage from a set of concerts the band held in summer 2012. Metallica: Through the Never is a solid film, albeit with some notable flaws, but it is definitely worth checking out for fans of Metallica or heavy metal music in general.

Metallica may not command the same cultural weight it did 25 years ago, but you wouldn't it know from the spectacle of "Metallica Through the Never," a fantastically intense experimental concert film readymade for the IMAX 3-D format. Directed by genre maestro Nimród Antal ("Armored," "Predators") and several years in the making, "Metallica Through the Never" dresses the conventions of a concert film in stunning effects and a wordless, abstract apocalyptic narrative to frame the music. Mainly, however, it's a sensory assault that foregrounds the full-throttle intensity of the band's sound. Unlike other concert films to take advantage of the large scale format -- Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones doc "Shine a Light" springs to mind -- "Metallica Through the Never" doesn't merely capture the group in action. Instead, it's been conceived exclusively to emphasize the band's hefty sound. While the bulk of the 90-minute running time finds them engaged in a lively,...

August isn't typically the strongest month for summer movies. In the past, it was a time for studios to burn off films that felt like tentpoles, but maybe weren't up to snuff to be included in the main race. However, little by little, the luster is returning to August, and "2 Guns" is a prime example of that.
"2 Guns" tells the story of a pair of mismatched thieves, played by Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington, who inadvertently steal tens of millions of dollars from some very bad dudes. They've then got to team up and outrun some Mexican drug dealers and very scary government types, all while piecing together the mystery of who set them up (and why).
It's not exactly a future Oscar contender, but then again, what big movies this summer were? Below, we run down 10 things you should know about "2 Guns" and whether it can hold its own against the potential August doldrums.

Matt Dillon (l.) and Elijah Wood each pay a hefty price for what they want in Pawn Shop Chronicles.
A group of people may be pawning far more than they bargained for in the 2013 Southern-fried action-comedy film Pawn Shop Chronicles.
The film offers three tales that are all connected by items found in a Southern small-town pawn shop. In the first, a group of strung-out, white-supremacist meth heads (Contraband‘s Lukas Haas and Fast Five‘s Paul Walker) attempt to rob a meth lab; the second finds a newly remarried man (Matt Dillon, Armored) desperately searching for his kidnapped wife; and the third zeroes in on an Elvis impersonator (Brendan Fraser, Journey to the Center of the Earth) trying to make sense of the strange goings-on at the carnival where he struggles to find an audience who enjoys his act.
