This episode surprised me, and that compels me to write about it. The Hills only started - unless I somehow didn't notice it in the program listings - this year in Finland, 4 years since its beginning in the US. The delay is probably because it took some time for the people featured in the series to draw enough media attention (you know who they are) for a *national* channel to pick the show up (it had been airing on MTV with a small delay compared to US airings). The upside of this is that The Powers That Be decided to rapid feed us with one new episode per day, Monday thru Friday. So, once I accidentally witnessed my first episode, it took only three weeks to get to my 15th episode, this one.

Since this episode surprised me, it stands out from the drivel around it. Still, despite the surprise, the episode is mostly made up of the same kind of scenes we see in other episodes. Since we are following real people, there is no script, and therefore all drama is non-pre-planned. The discussions, mundane work life, parties and clubbing featured in almost every episode are not dramatic. But *this* episode actually evokes feelings in the viewer. A rare high point for The Hills, but compared to TV in general, as a whole, this is as average as can be, ie. 5/10.
