Another group of campers have left each camp. Wivenhoe announces that he is starting a diet. For bear protection, Camp Divine has installed a vault entry and alarm box to guard their pantry. Mahala May bets him that he can't stay on the diet for a month. If he loses, he has to chop firewood for her camp for a month. Temptation from the other men is all around Wivenhoe. They begin looking at themselves in the mirror, however, and decide to join in on the diet. The bet terms also apply to them. Malden says he is naturally "husky" and refuses to join them. The two bears that sporadically appear around camp unseen, Irving and Virginia, can't comprehend why humans diet. The crash diet is getting to the men. Inspired by the heist film "Topkapi", they decide to break into the girl's secured pantry through the ceiling. When Malden gets stuck in the hole the men find themselves trapped, but they may not be the only ones eyeing the food locker.
