The mystery of the moving furniture
JordanThomasHall27 June 2017
Professor Everett (Richard Long) wakes up to find the furniture rearranged. He questions Nanny (Juliet Mills) who says she found it the same way the morning before. The children feel its a ghost and Aunt Henrietta (Elsa Lanchester) arrives feeling it is the work of a poltergeist. The professor's curiosity leads him to search the home in the middle of the night. He comes across a trip wire Hal (David Doremus) has set up, with flashing lights and loud alarms and a blaring recording of John Philip Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever". They awake the next morning to find the furniture rearranged again. Aunt Henrietta conducts an exorcism with the family, comically playing on a horn and signing "Indian Love Call". Without success, the professor and Hal decides to stay up all night waiting for the poltergeist. The mystery of the moving furniture is finally discovered.

An Exorcism?
gregorycanfield25 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Nanny and everyone else try to determine why the furniture seems to be moving around in the middle of the night. Nanny's aunt Henrietta (the always-irritating Elsa Lanchester) believes that there is a poltergeist in the house. Now, for an observation you'll probably only get from this reviewer. A seance is performed, in an attempt to communicate with the alledged poltergeist. The seance is incorrectly referred to as an "exorcism." The word "exorcism" is repeated a few times within the episode. This episode (as well as the show itself) pre-dated "The Exorcist." Juliet Mills would go on to star in "Beyond the Door" (the first so-called Exorcist rip-off). All the more curious because this episode had nothing to do with exorcism. If you're not as amazed by all of this as I am-what can I tell you?! Fair warning: Juliet Mills remains pretty and charming here. If you want to see her turn green, and not so pretty, you'll have to watch her in Beyond the Door!

Who's rearranging the furniture?
mlbroberts31 January 2021
Someone is rearranging the furniture in the middle of the night, and Nanny's crazy Aunt Henrietta decides it's a poltergeist and decides the Everetts need an exorcism. Cue the seance, with Aunt Henrietta calling forth her contact on the other side with a horn and everyone singing "When I'm calling you.....", only to find the furniture still rearranged the next morning. Elsa Lancaster is a lot of fun as Aunt Henrietta even if her exorcism doesn't work, Hal's trip-wire alarm set up catches only the Professor, but ultimately the culprit is revealed and it's not so magical and mysterious as sometimes things with Nanny seem to be.
