What I found interesting about this episode. Is there is are a lot hints to where John Carpenter's The Thing got there ideas from. Such as: A burrowing alien from space, in a frozen tundra near an outpost with humans. It stalks them for a meal, mostly blood. And it looks similar to the one in John Carpenter's The Thing in the final battle.
And they said you can't learn anything from cartoons.
