Great film - incredible insight into women in these countries
charliecoh12 February 2023
This documentary gives you a real insight into women in the 3 countries they visited. They have really stark and honest interviews with incredible women across the countries.

Easy to watch and light hearted, this film will take you on the journey where you feel like you're exploring with them. I didn't know a lot about these countries before watching the film and certainly learnt a lot.

Some moments are more difficult to watch and really deeper your understanding of the challenges that women face in these countries. Cat and Hannah really ask the right questions in their interviews and it means that some of the responses do explore the differences between the western society that we know and these unfamiliar cultures.

Would definitely recommend as it's certainly different to travel and exploratory documentaries that I've seen before.

A very endearing journey full of humility

Warning: Spoilers
Loved the film, as a woman from Kyrgyzstan, I was deeply moved by the narrative, there were a lot of things that I could relate to, despite having lived in Europe for the past 17 years. The scenery is breathtaking, although it is soo much better IRL. I really felt that the depiction of people's life was honest and not sensationalised, the stories were very real and raw. I loved the doctor from the hospital and the young student that takes care of her brother, so many beautiful stories! The roads are really bad and the infrastructure is lacking proper upkeep and development, however the people along the way were resilient, kind and you could really feel it through the screen, a highly recommended watch! PS: for all the sentimental souls, prepare to shed a tear or two!

A film you won't easily forget

This film consists of a roadtrip between two women interspersed with multiple interviews with local women in Central Asia.

The interviews and stories of the locals is the core of the documentary and are incredibly well made. You get a deep, personal impression of the lives and culture of the people living in the region.

Some moments are heartwarming and show how kind people can be. Others are tough and show a completely different culture to the western one, where some parts are difficult to watch.

The film shows the inspiring ways women are changing it. The interviewed women are from all walks of life from nurses to teachers to former combat sport champions.

Cat and Hannah, the two travelling women, have a wonderful, honest relationship that is also very apparent in the film. The two discuss what they experience throughout the film and manage to get real, meaningful, and insightful answers to their excellent questions.

I definitely recommend this film if you want to see a part of the world not often discussed but incredibly interesting.
