Crash Bandicoot developer Toys for Bob has changed its website in a rather mysterious way. Now, it only displays a bright purple tiki mask on a black background. This cryptic change has left gamers theorizing about what the developer might be teasing.
Given the connection of the tiki mask with the Crash Bandicoot games, many speculate that the team may be hinting at a new installment in the long-running series. The purple color, however, might refer to yet another character the studio is known for.
Is the Announcement of a New Crash Bandicoot Game Imminent?

The 2023 Super Mario Bros. animated feature film from Universal and Illumination was a massive success, bringing in over $1.3 Billion worldwide. Despite its mixed reception, it made a huge impact and already has a sequel in development. Universal also did well with the Five Nights At Freddy’s movie making nearly $300 Million worldwide.
Now, another Universal company is getting in on the video game adaptation business; this time, it’s DreamWorks animation. But they aren’t doing it alone. The legendary studio announced a partnership with Story Kitchen, a media company focused on adapting video games into feature films and television.
A spokesperson from Story Kitchen stated the following regarding the announcement: “We’re incredibly excited to work with DreamWorks Animation as our first -official- film partner, since Sk was founded in 2022.“

Activision Blizzard has lost Spyro and Crash Bandicoot developer Toys for Bob. In its recent blog post, Toys for Bob made the brave move to part ways with former partners Microsoft and Activision with the hopes of developing its games independently but not entirely burning the bridge with its careful choice of words. Other studios have taken this route to be in command of their ships, a beautiful display of grit and an indication of quality over quantity projects coming from Toys for Bob.
Going independent opens more opportunities for game developers to explore and try something original without any supervision or oversight from a third-party entity or other partner. Remedy Entertainment just recently acquired the full rights to the Control franchise, which includes the sequel and the upcoming co-op spinoff with the codename Condor and it has the freedom to do whatever it sees fit for the IP.

It has been months since Xbox and Activision Blizzard finally came together after months of court dates, secrets being revealed, and deals being made. But now that the deal has been finalized, gamers are so close to finally receiving the fruits of their labor, as the update on the Xbox business podcast has shed some light on the future of this collaboration.
When it comes to Activision Blizzard, there are countless games in its library that could be coming to Xbox Game Pass now that the deal has finally concluded. However, one game has already been selected to make its entrance to Xbox Game Pass, and that is Diablo 4.

On January 26, Bandai Namco will release Tekken 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While there will surely be multiple seasons of Dlc for the game, the first season will end right around the 30th anniversary of the series. 30 years of eight mainline titles, two tag team offshoots, a Nina Williams spinoff, some mediocre-at-best movies, a pretty decent Netflix animated series, and a handful of weird-ass comic tie-ins.
In those three decades, Bandai Namco gave us what might just be the best fighting game series to ever exist. If the fighting genre had a Mount Rushmore, surely the titles carved into it would be Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, and King of Fighters. I mean, I suppose you could argue Super Smash Bros., but the fighting game community treats it like Anakin Skywalker in the Jedi Council. It’s there, but is treated like an outsider.

Dust off those joysticks: Sega is rebooting a handful of retro franchises including Crazy Taxi, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio and Shinobi.
The Japanese gaming giant announced the new initiative, which will “revive a number of IPs as all-new video games, developed for today’s audiences,” Dec. 7 at the Game Awards. Sega also showed the Los Angeles audience a trailer that previews footage of the new games, which are currently in development.
As two of the rebooted titles already have film adaptations in development, Sega eyes Hollywood ambitions beyond its successful “Sonic” movie franchise. A Shinobi movie adaptation from Marc Platt and Stories International was announced back in 2016, and Lionsgate landed film rights to Streets of Rage last year, recruiting “John Wick” writer Derek Kolstad.

It's been nearly forty years, but people still remember "The A-Team." The action adventure series went on for five seasons, but stuck around in the public consciousness for much, much longer. People still remember the theme song, the cartoonish violence, the catchphrases. But although many viewers throughout the 2000s wanted a revival of the show, the TV series itself never came back.
Instead, we got a feature film in 2010 starring an updated A-Team, with the characters being veterans of the Iraq War instead of veterans of Vietnam. The film underperformed at the box office, however, and they never made a sequel. Unlike "21 Jump Street," a franchise where the later movies have now long-since overshadowed the TV show for most younger viewers, when people of all ages today think of "The A-Team," they're still almost certainly thinking of the show.
So what have the cast members been up to since...

As of today, October 13, 2023, Microsoft has officially completed its nearly $70 billion acquisition of publisher Activision Blizzard. Though the two sides reportedly agreed to an acquisition way back in January 2022, the deal has been modified, scrutinized, and debated by a number of regulatory bodies (not to mention other gamers) since then. Following an exhaustive process that required the Microsoft team to make quite a few concessions, the deal is finally complete.
There is so much to say about this deal, and we hope to be able to share much of that information with you in the coming days and weeks. However, you’re not alone if the first question that popped into your mind is “What games and franchises do Microsoft and Xbox now control as part of the Activision Blizzard deal?
The full answer to that question is long and complicated. As noted above, there are a number of provisions...

You might not know the name Peter Cullen, but I guarantee you know his voice. He's Eeyore in the "Winnie the Pooh" franchise, Monterey Jack in "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers," the first voice of Karr in "Knight Rider," the vocalizations of the titular "Predator," and since he voiced Mario in the Donkey Kong segments of "Saturday Supercade," he's actually the first person to ever give Mario a voice in the English-speaking world. All of these roles border on iconic, but Cullen became a living legend by providing the voice of Optimus Prime in the "Transformers" franchise.
In 2022, for the film's 15-year anniversary, Paramount held an event celebrating all things "Transformers," and Peter Cullen spoke (via Comic Book Resource) about his journey from voicing Optimus Prime in the animated series to bringing the character to life in live action. Devo lead singer Mark Mothersbaugh, who created the music for Paul Reubens’ series Pee-wee’s Playhouse and the 2016 movie Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, has paid tribute to the late actor and reflected upon how collaborating with Reubens “changed the trajectory” of his career in an interview with Yahoo Music.
“He always had a good personality and a good heart,” Mothersbaugh said about his longtime friend. “It’s just shocking and sad that he’s gone.” The Devo co-founder had no idea that Reubens had been privately battling cancer, adding, “We’d even been talking about working on an animated version of Pee-wee’s Playhouse.”
Mothersbaugh and Reubens met at the comedy improv theater the Groundlings when Mothersbaugh was dating founding member Laraine Newman (who was also part of the original Saturday Night Live cast). Anthony Fantano is known for sharing pointed musical opinions on his Needle Drop channel, but his latest beef has nothing to do with hip-hop. Fantano has been sued by Activision after contesting the publisher’s decision to use his voice in one of its TikTok videos.
It all started with some over-sliced pizza.
To understand the dispute between Fantano and Activision, we have to travel back to 2021, when the critic reacted to a pizza video on his TikTok account. As the pizza is cut into quarters, then eighths, then sixteenths, Fantano becomes increasingly incensed. By the end of the video, he’s screaming “enough slices!”

That two-word exclamation became a popular meme on TikTok. According to Rolling Stone, “enough slices” has appeared in 54,000 videos, including some follow-ups published by Fantano himself. “Since making this audio wider to the greater TikTok public, the whole...

Imagine going through the entire process of securing a law degree in hopes of representing clients in meaningful court cases, only to ultimately end up defending them in a lawsuit centered around the use of a 19-second TikTok audio. That’s the reality for attorneys representing Anthony Fantano, the YouTube music critic who has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit from video game developers Activision Publishing.

Welcome to Streamers on the Rise, where we find streamers who are growing their channels, content, and audiences in extraordinary ways. Each week we’ll talk with a creator about what goes into livestreaming–both on and off camera.
Storymodebae hates editing videos.
If it’s short-form, she’ll drag herself through it. But long-form? For YouTube? She’s got mad respect for the people who have the patience for it, but she’s not one of them.
So, when someone told her to try Twitch–where it’s all in the moment and editing is simply not a thing–she was immediately intrigued.
She’d originally joined YouTube because she’s been a gamer for about as long as she can remember. She’s got fond memories of seeing Doom on her dad’s work computer in the 90s, and choosing between games like Frogger and Crash Bandicoot for her first-gen PlayStation.

It’s funny to think about how Sony never even really wanted to enter the console market. The PlayStation was originally conceived as a CD add-on for the Snes, but Nintendo broke off the deal at the last minute, infuriating Sony executives. So, they decided to go it alone, quickly developing a little grey box that was developer friendly and capable of advanced 3D graphics.
The PS1 ended up eclipsing anything Nintendo did at the time, becoming the first console to reach 100 million in sales. It launched some of the biggest franchises in gaming like Resident Evil and Crash Bandicoot, and introduced numerous new gameplay styles. It’s pretty much the foundation on which all modern console games are built. And a lot of its titles still hold up well today. These are the 25 best PS1 games ever.

Calling the success of “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” a testament to video-game IP would be a disservice to Illumination and Nintendo. Universal confirmed that it grossed $454 million worldwide in its first week and the Mario movie achieved something that even HBO’s “The Last of Us” did not: It’s a four-quadrant success.
A ton of kids turned out, sure, and it didn’t hurt that the last family movie in theaters was months ago with “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.” However, as IndieWire reported last weekend, 84 percent of the film’s audience was above the age of 13. It’s a rare movie that attracts both kid-friendly crowds and nostalgic adults, that played for all genders and ethnicities, and performed strongly across international markets, and that made it the biggest worldwide animated opening of all time.

"The Last of Us" has concluded its nine-week victory lap, and while we're all still picking up the pieces from the intense finale, it won't be long before plenty of folks jump into full-season rewatches to see what they missed. One of the many things that make "The Last of Us" one of the greatest video game adaptations ever made is that the source material isn't abandoned in the transition to televised storytelling. Since the series was co-created by creative director Neil Druckmann and includes direct input from game developer Naughty Dog, a serious effort has been made to bring as much of the game and its surrounding universe to the show as possible in good faith, including some amazing details.
