The Assassination of Dino Bravo
Prismark101 September 2020
I remember reading about the death of Dino Bravo and the cause being something about tobacco smuggling. It turns out that tobacco smuggling is a big deal in Canada.

Dino Bravo was a very good technical wrestler who was a little lost in the then WWF among the bigger superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage.

Back in Canada, he was a co-owner of his own promotion company. A big man and a big deal in his native Montreal.

Bravo's troubles began when he was let go by the WWF. I am unsure why he could not had gone back to other promoters such as WCW.

Instead Bravo had family links with the Italian mafia families and became a debt collector. Well he had an imposing size and a bit of a temper.

Dino Bravo's death still remains unsolved although the program has no end of speculation. It looked like a contract hit on a deal that went wrong. I think people were not going to stick their necks out for a television show.

The show talked to Bravo's family and fellow professionals. I do not think his wife and daughter had much to offer, the daughter was only a child when Bravo was killed. For her it was more a case of living a life without her dad.

I was shocked to see The Mountie take part, he was unrecognizable from his WWF days.

Did Dino have a mob related death?
blanbrn18 May 2023
This "Dark Side of the Ring" episode from season 2 number 6 which first aired on 4-21-20 "The Assassination of Dino Bravo" is one that is sad and tragic as it searches for answers showing that Dino Bravo lived a double life and became desperate once retired outside the ring. I remember as a kid he was a Montreal, Canada strongman as I watched his early days as a bad guy in the "WWF" as Jimmy Hart first introduced him. He had gained fame only to become burned out and leave in the early 90's. Chilling and emotional were interviews from Dino's widow and his grown daughters as they still feel the pain from his unsolved death. As Dino it was told became a mob enforcer and sadly and shockingly this seemed to lead to his execution style assassination in 1993. Wow sad to see that a strongman legend left out tragic and fell so far. Interesting were interviews too from ex wrestlers "The Mountie" and "Rick Martel". Overall revealing episode that sheds life on Bravo's hidden last days as his murder is still unsolved it was fitting that this episode asked for answers.
