Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano and Giorgio Colangeli have joined Black Bear Pictures’ upcoming psychological horror film “Immaculate” with previously announced star and producer Sydney Sweeney. The film has begun its principal photography in Rome.
The horror film depicts devoutly religious Cecilia (Sweeney) who receives an offer at an illustrious Italian convent. While seemingly picture-perfect, her new home in the Italian countryside holds some horrifying secrets.
Morte’s credits include “Money Heist,” “Mirage,” “The Wheel of Time” and the upcoming series “Talkies.” Porcaroli has worked on projects such as “Perfect Strangers” “Baby,” “18 Presents” and the upcoming “Il Vangelo Secondo Maria.” Romano was featured in “The Hand of God,” “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer,” “Imma Tataranni – Deputy Prosecutor” and “Night Sun.” Colangeli’s credits include “Il Divo,” “Mindemic,” “Citizens of the World” and the upcoming “Castelrotto.” Sweeney’s acting work includes “Euphoria,” “The White Lotus” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.

Netflix continues to dominate the streaming competition, with the platform recently putting out a range of intriguing trailers for upcoming projects while also seeing some surprising choices pull in huge amounts of subscribers. Furthermore, the streamer put out thirteen new titles this weekend, including an underrated Jamie Foxx thriller that’s already doing well with audiences, as well as a host of returning and new television shows. But what are the best new movies and series to enjoy on Netflix at the moment?
First up is Sleepless, the previously mentioned Jamie Foxx thriller from 2017, where his character infiltrates a gang to rescue his son. We also get some strong turns from Scoot McNairy and David Harbour in a film that doesn’t have the kindest critical reputation, but has still managed to climb to #2 in the Netflix movie charts this weekend. Also new, or at least returning, on Netflix is the Jennifer Lawrence-starring,...

Based on the title alone, one would assume director Francesco Amato’s “18 Presents,” a terminal-illness-themed melodrama about a self-destructive young woman coping with the death of her mother, would place its emphasis on the special gifts the protagonist receives each year until adulthood. Not exactly. While this Italian-language weepie blessedly sidesteps schmaltz and saccharine, it disappointingly fails to capitalize on its promised premise. Neither emotional enough to pay proper tribute to the true story it captures, nor hokey enough to qualify as “so bad, it’s good,” this is a flaccid, failed attempt at heart-tugging poignancy.
Ultra-organized 40-year-old Elisa (Vittoria Puccini) seems to have it all. A good job running a temp agency. A decent-sized house in the Italian suburbs with her steady boyfriend (Edoardo Leo), who loves her dearly. Plus, she’s pregnant with a healthy baby girl. But on the same day that a slight problem arises in her third trimester,...

With most of the Western world – and probably other regions as well – stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic, many are struggling to find ways to keep themselves from growing bored. Thankfully, if you have a solid internet connection, there are tons of things to do – be it playing video games, surfing the web and, of course, watching content online.
Speaking of which, Netflix just added over 30 films to its already sizable catalog on May 1st, kicking off the month in style, so there’s plenty of fresh titles to watch on the platform. But a new week means more new content and this coming week will be no different, with over 20 movies and TV shows set to make their way onto the streaming service.
As always, there’s a little something for everyone and you can see the full list of what’s heading to Netflix over the next...
