Sex & Nudity

  • Multiple passionate kisses throughout the movie.
  • A young teenage couple run over to an open medical bed, kiss and strip while laying on top of each other on it (We briefly see his buttocks and her breast), and we see the man's shirt being unbuttoned. We later see the couple laying in bed next to each other breathing heavily, it is implied that they just had sex.
  • A man and a woman have sex during a war in a battlefield fully clothed; moaning and panting are evident.

Violence & Gore

  • Very frequent and bloody violence.
  • A decapitated man is shown in the beginning, we see that the stump is clearly burned.
  • A man's entire team is shown getting shot up at the beginning, and we see lots of blood spraying out with each gunshot. (We see many flashbacks to this scene).
  • A teenage boy has a large sword stuck in his forehead with some blood pouring out of his forehead. (We see many flashbacks to this scene).
  • Several wounded soldiers are shown in a hospital with missing body parts.
  • A man expresses regret for winning a medal just for "Sticking a piece of steel in a young kid's head".
  • A man gets home, and finds an unwanted visitor. They wrestle, and the man pulls a knife and threatens the other man by threatening to slit his throat.
  • A man is punched really hard in the face, we see his nose bleed.
  • A man launches onto a younger kid, we see them fall down a hill.
  • We see a corpse with a rat crawling out of its mouth.
  • The war scenes are particularly violent. Lots of cannons and explosions People are shown stepping on landmines which detonate, and usually body parts are seen flying off with lots of blood splashing everywhere. LOTS of people are shot with lots of blood spraying out and splashing all over the ground where they land.
  • One man is shot in the stomach and we see his intestines flying out.
  • A soldier punches the back of a dead corpse's head and we see his hand punch right through.
  • One soldier is stabbed in the back with a hatchet and we see blood spray out of his mouth.
  • A man is seen being stabbed repeatedly, but then the man stabbing is shot in the head and we see blood spray all over the other man's face.

Profanity

  • 21 F-words or derivatives, many GD and J* exclamations.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A man offers another man a chance to get drunk.
  • A woman is seen injecting herself with morphine in one scene, and preparing to inject herself in another scene. She is seen going through withdrawal in one scene.
  • People are seen smoking cigarettes in several scenes, and one survival tactic that Paul Gross' character mentions is "Keep your matches dry" (meant a humor)

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • An exceptionally gruesome movie. There is lots of blood and dead soldiers shown, along with wounds and people in agony.
  • The war scenes are very disturbing and we see many closeups of wounded soldiers.
  • Some very startling explosions are seen.
