The NFB's 2019 short "Reviving the Roost" depicts a young gay man remembering a bar that closed in 2007. Since the coronavirus spread, quite a few places have permanently shuttered, but even this short reminded us that we shouldn't expect our favorite haunts to last forever. Whether due to high rents, loss of interest, or something else, few places stay around for more than a few decades.
