First half of the episode had many of the problems the third one had. Second half absolutely blew me away. The last few sequences were some of the best things I've seen from a fantasy show.

Much Better
xtidusxyunax26 November 2021
This episode is what im looking for in this show.

A slower pace, character moments, knowing more and more about the world naturally and understanding the characters and their personalities.

Please, do not do what the previous episodes did and rush it.

Seriously impressive.
W011y4m526 November 2021
Okay, so it's reasonably fair to say that Wayne Yip directs the absolute cr*p out of this week's addition to "The Wheel of Time" & after doing such an undeniably impressive job helming "The Dragon Reborn", I can definitely see why Amazon's therefore made a very wise decision, bringing him on board to shoot 4 episodes of their upcoming "Lord of The Rings" TV adaptation. Always knew he was talented behind the camera (ever since I saw his work on Channel 4's UTOPIA in the UK, which I'd recommend checking out) but wow, his talents have superceded my expectations here. If anyone previously possessed any doubts as to his abilities as a filmmaker, then kindly allow his contributions to S1 to dispel them immediately. This guy has VISION.

However, I must unfortunately concede I haven't read the books (yet) so can't comment on faithfulness to the source material / quality of the adaptation but what I can say is as a casual viewer - seeing the world gradually being brought to life & the way in which it's realised, this is the first episode that really feels like it proved why I should continue watching. A slow burner, of sorts. Of course, I'd still like to get to know these characters more (we're thrust in to beautifully constructed action sequences so often, it can be hard to find available time to expand upon their development) but I feel as though in this particular installment, the balance is struck more evenly than before - allowing for an equal amount of both astonishment (in terms of the visual grandiosity / awe inspiring set pieces) & much needed emotional investment.

Welcome to Robert Jordan's World
kierran8926 November 2021
As a huge fan of the books, I enjoyed the first 3 episodes simply because it was amazing to finally see Wheel of Time characters on screen for the first time, but I did understand some of the complaints and reviews (that gave them 5 or 6 stars - giving them 1 star was insane).

However, episode 4 truly captures the essence of Robert Jordan's world for the first time, and boy is this an extremely promising sign for the rest of the series. It felt like a catterpillar transforming into a butterfly in every sense... from the pacing, tone, book lore, story, acting, visuals, and more).

People really need to stop comparing every fantasy series to GOT. The Wheel of Time isn't GOT, and it isn't trying to be. But after this episode, there's a spark of belief for me that the Wheel of Time can invoke similar feelings of shock, awe, and epicness.

Brace yourselves people, it's going to be a fun ride!

Reinventing the Wheel
bluenine-226 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
WOT finally found its rhythm. After a shaky first 3 episodes, we finally get the WOT we all have been waiting for. The pacing finally felt right, there was more character development, and some great action. I can now even understand why they invented a wife for Perrin - that fast-tracked Perrin's character development into what he is going to become.

Yes, there still are big deviations from the books, but thats ok. The only deviation I am not happy with is the suggestion that dragon can be a female - that goes against the very premise of the one power on which this entire world is built. Please snap out of that stupidity asap.

Fantastic episode, holy God. I was kinda worried about the pacing, I did enjoy but not loved the first 3 episodes but this one in on another level. Everything felt right and the ending is AMAZING. Damn, I wish we had more episodes now. So damn good.

Got to love it
thahirkhan-1924127 November 2021
I've never read the books. But, this episode showed me this would not simply be a story of four people running away from orc like creatures.

We begin to see the true epic scale of the series, spanning an entire beuatiful world. And the Aes Sidae, they are all absolutely fabulous.

Epic, after a slow start
ivannano26 November 2021
The books were very dense with internal dialogues and extremely detailed descriptions. This means that some would never like any adaptation - no matter how good.

Just ignore those people and their silly 1/10 ratings.

For the rest who have never read the books or understand that visual adaptations always need to differ from the books, this is turning into a corker of a series. Hopefully, they can maintain the build.

With 14 books, there is substantial source material and many epic situations to come.

Looking forward to the next episode.

The actor playing Logain is amazing, but the episode is patchy in quality
Ajaquai27 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Can I just say, the actor playing Logain appears to be really invested in his part and is wonderful to watch when he's given a chance to shine. The King of Ghealdhan also played his part very well.

Unfortunately this episode like all the others is uneven and patchy in pacing and quality. The OP save by Nynaeve doesn't work at all. It would have been far better if she had only saved Lan from the brink of death, whom she was the only one upset about getting injured anyway. For her to do that would have shown her powerful potential as a very talented untrained wilder, instead of causing her to become more of a Mary Sue.

I get they wanted people to think she was the dragon reborn, but unfortunately they seem to have played that to the point they neglect good storytelling in scenes like this one.

6/10 might be overdoing it in the ratings I think it deserves, but it's the only episode I thought was pretty good out of the entire season. Please give all the writing and a loose rein to write how they want to whomever wrote the script for this one from now on.

Ok this episode is by far the best so far. Great pacing, character development. Tons of nods to the books. Enjoying how they are playing up who the dragon reborn is. The last 20 minutes was absolutely mental.

Not The Wheel of Time
gbarrett-3994118 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
That being said...it was a good episode, just not true to the books. The episode was done well. The action scenes were exciting. This would have been better as an independent series not tied to books.

What a complete pile of feces
learob-558523 January 2022
I am so sick of these people, destroying my favorite epic of the past decade.

How can they dare to call this WoT??

It isn't even close!!

Just because you gave your characters the same name as in someone else's book doesn't mean that you can call your story the same title.

That is the only similarity between these 2 stories... Character names and nothing else.

Best episode so far!!!

LOVED this episode!

So great that I clapped lol when the girl showed off her powers. Can't wait to see the next episode.

I'm a bit concerned about what happened to the gleeman though. I can see why but it was too bad the two guys just left him to be killed (?) by the weird Fade.

I don't think it was 10/10 but...
soccerboarder26 November 2021
The good far far outweighs the bad. If this is representative of the rest of the show I think this show is going places. Thankfully I'm not a book purist and can really enjoy this show.

This show gets better and better
cfish-8394926 November 2021
The title says exactly what you need to know. I'm glad more people are enjoying the show too. I honestly don't think any of the episodes were bad but they only get better per episode. This show has great potential and just because it's not entirely book accurate doesn't mean it sucks. I can't wait for next week that's for sure. Happy thanksgiving everyone.

Getting better and better!!
littletigerleroy26 November 2021
This episode builds so well upon the world and characters that have already been established. Nyneve is quickly becoming an iconic TV character and the introduction of Logan couldn't have been better. The cinematography continues to improve upon an already impressive start. Couldn't ask for a better adaptation of these books!! Can't wait for more!!!

What a fantastic episode
markellis-6594826 November 2021
Any concerns I might have had about the direction of the series after the first three episodes is gone. This was a stupendous hour of television delight. The pacing finally reached a point where we could start to see some real world- and character-building occur. The action scenes, while a little messy at times, gave characters a chance to really show off what they're capable of. The dialogue felt much less wooden than in previous episodes.

But my favorite aspect of this episode was how it toyed with book readers' expectations. This was never trying to be a 1:1 recreation of the books, and if it were, we'd probably still be in Emond's Field. But the subtle references that only book readers will get, the moments that set up plots that don't happen for another five books... it was so skillfully done.

The only negative I can come up with is that it's going to be even harder to wait a week for the next episode.

Strongest episode so far
bluejays-880454 December 2021
Episode 4 of the WoT is a flawed but suitable entry into the series. It advances the story, provides nice character moments and dialogue, and avoids many of the problems of the first three episodes. There were moments, especially early on where I felt like I was really experiencing the WoT.

I dislike the ending scene and that does sour my review somewhat. Good episode overall that demonstrates the potential of the show. Hopefully many of the kinks are ironed out further on.

Got into it's groove
wahaj-6054026 November 2021
Episode 4 finally allowed the character's to breath a little, allowing them to share moments and flesh out them out with character beats as well some amazing action sequences on the back half of the show. Can't say to much without going into spoilers but wow the show really griped me in suspense for a second even as book reader.

Now it feels like reading a WoT Book
blackbird-5893929 November 2021
Would give 9 but give it a 10 because if all this silly 1 Star ratings..

This Episode has so much good conversations and World Building, it's truly WoT.

1 Star raters get over it that the Story is different.... and no the DR will not be changed!

It's difficult to respect a show that doesn't respect the source material
tomdamen00728 November 2021
If you don't know anything about Wheel of Time I can imagine this is an entertaining show and episode.

But I find watching this gut-wrenching. It is ridiculously different. I am not talking talking about specific lines or scenes, i am talking about personality, the story, and Robert Jordan's conception of how the WoT universe works.

Imagine LOTR starts with a 60 year old black Sam killing his pregnant wife, female Aragorn carrying the Ring to mount Doom, and Gandalf and Galadriel having sex in Rivendell.. Yes it may be good to watch.. if you don't know the original story. If you do, that would be upsetting.

It's difficult to respect a show that doesn't respect the source material.

Best episode yet
fatherloss26 November 2021
Really great episode here with a lot of information about the world and lore shared with our young heroes and the viewers alike. Bombshell of an ending that left me wanting to just start the replay immediately. Can't believe I have to wait a week for the next episode. Cruel, cruel world.
