A search for style
JordanThomasHall13 December 2018
Dagwood is frustrated with the ad hoc arrangement of the living room. Blondie and Mrs. Dithers have Dagwood and Mr. Dithers rearrange it when the couple is next over. Mr. Dithers says decorating reflects ones inner personality. Dagwood inadvertently offends Blondie who is now determined to completely redecorate. Mr. Dithers is looking to see the work of interior decorator Miss Faraday (June Vincent,"Black Angel") on a model home. He arranges for her to work for the Bumsteads to judge her style. Blondie is quickly irked by Miss Faraday's friendliness toward Dagwood and her judgmental remarks about the home's current decor. Miss Faraday comes at odds with Harriet and Mrs. Dithers to the point they leave mad. The decorator changes everything to modern, but not everyone is going to be happy.

REDECORATING THE OLD HOMESTEAD
tcchelsey13 February 2023
If you were a faithful follower of the BLONDIE movie series, then you knew all about furniture in the Bumstead house! There was always a call for new stuff. Here, Blondie and Dagwood want a re-do, especially Dagwood (surprise!) who believes things are getting old. Now that's a switch. The gang has help from Mr. And Mrs. Dithers, which only complicates matters. Look for veteran actress June Vincent, playing Miss Faraday, an interior decorator handily supplied by Dithers. And then there's the jealousy factor, always. You have to admit, the Bumstead's house had some nice furniture to begin with, but who can argue with a "few" new pieces? This episode may also have been inspired by I LOVE LUCY and the episode where Lucy buys a pile of furniture for their new house, which aired about the same time (1957). As always, Arthur Lake is fun to watch goofing everything up. The tv series is now on dvd.
