The red jacket though
shelltmarr16 June 2021
Ok so maybe it's just me. But, if I was stuck wearing all that red nonsense for years, I would never in life again wear anything red!! Just another one of the little things that drive me nuts about June.

Offred Comes Roaring Back With a Vengeance.
gkimmarygleim16 June 2021
No spoilers here. But this was a disturbingly satisfying episode. A plus +10 in every way. I can foresee much discussion about the last 10 minutes. However tonight I'm here to praise the Actors, the Director, the Writers, the camera work, sound & special effects. Excellent job by ALL the cast and crew. The music throughout the episode added so much with its foreboding low rumbling etc. I will be counting the weeks until Season 5 starts.

Plotholes

Warning: Spoilers
Really how do so many people not understand that Gilead does not care about Fred at all? It's made very clear, they literally only can spare thoughts and prayers. So if he defects and starts talking, the only thing they are interested in is damage control. Not saving him! The eyes are supposed to dispose of him. Like a fair trial is actually important toGilead, come on after 4 seasons you should know better. Episode was awesome.

Poethic

Warning: Spoilers
This is the best episode of all the serie.

Some people are angry because June has a selfish and spiteful character. Do you forget that the story is about her and her feelings, and that she has been blown up, mistreated, beaten and humiliated in a totalitarian religious dictatorship? She has much and more right to be selfish than to be filled with hatred and resentment.

Some complain about fred's death, they think that fred should have suffered his own karma in gilead. This is possible, but we have to applaud the script as they has given June the justice she deserves. June needed to kill him to heal her soul. She realized that there is no justice even in Canadá (when they wanted to let him free) and never will trust to justice of karma in gilead.. Justice was going to charge her alone and she did not miss the opportunity...

As for the script, we must understand that June does not have to be the heroine of the story. She is a desperate mother that need to have her two daughters with her. Now we can see that she is the one with the power. She has control over two top commands in gilead.

Im so happy because os the perfect direction

I applaud the script because it has been sublime, the turn from one chapter to another seems impressive to me. June is using her best contacts.

Realistic

Warning: Spoilers
The thing that struck me over the time I have watched the series unfold was that not only were handmaid's being forced to birth children for their captors, but they were ALSO being 'forced' to kill under penalty of death anyone that did not follow their rules or live by their standards.

I had wondered how this would affect a woman over time... I feel that this staging of the murder of not only the man who raped her, the man who kept her as a slave, but who was also responsible for so much of what had happened to her, her family, her sex, and her country. I could see this as a realistic snap.. the need to destroy the man who forced this very psychologically damaging life on her.. After all they did 'teach' her to kill. It should shock no one when she does it to stop that 'commander' from going free after all of the damage he had caused.

I admired her strength...

This finale packs a lot of punches. As in other seasons, we have had a few slow episodes, and the finale makes up for that, in fact it makes the episode more climatic. I forgot where I was for the full 58 minutes and for that I can thank Offred and friends. Phenomenal acting, script, editing and cinematography. The finale gives you some much needed closure whilst still leaving you pondering the possibilities for season 5 and how things will play out.

Elisabeth Moss is becoming one the greatest actors in a generation
dimondbuti-1088317 June 2021
Her ability to convince the audience of her emotions is uncanny. It's as if she was born into this profession. Her acting, and now directing is second nature and second to none. This episode is proof the The handmaid's tale success is due to her talents. The final scenes of the season 4 finale are raw and unexpected. Elisabeth Moss' June Osborne will be remembered as one of the great acting achievements of television history. Think Walter White. She is amazing !

Season 5 will be greatly anticipated. So much credit for the success is also owed to Ann Dowd !

Excellent, but something is missing.

Warning: Spoilers
I have to admit there was an emotional "yes" I gave to Waterford's fate, but I so wanted to see him handled as a traitor by Gilead, and given the irony of meeting its justice system he had created. To me, that would have been a far more satisfying conclusion: to have him chased down and beaten by the women he victimized, then awaken in a jail cell to be tried and convicted before being put on the wall. Seeing him broken would have been wonderful.

One of most satisfying episode on TV
akhil_16 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
One of most satisfying death on TV. This episode gave June closure she wanted since she became free. She wanted to see fear in him, he literally ran for his life. I can't wait to see Sarena and June interaction after this incident.

We really needed this closure and I liked the part that everyone backing June Truello, Nick, Joseph and other women.

We can live with this ending until season 5 airs.

Praised be the Waterfred!!

Blessed be the season finale
sehyezelic12 July 2021
I get the issues, but I'd do the same thing June did. I feel like in her position there is no place for rationality, so I don't think her actions were that much out of the ordinary.

After binge watching this show for days, this was the finale I deserved. Blessed day!

Very satisfying, but at what cost?
ali_rocketqueen16 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A season that packed lots of jaw dropping moments and unexpected twists, finishes in the most predictable way possible. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved seeing Fred hanging on the wall, but that scene was made at expense of its credibility. As satisfying as it is seeing June getting everything she wants, including unmonitored conversations at her whim with high ranking commanders to organise an illegal execution, it diminishes the idea of the powerful regime we feared so far. How is Lawrence going to justify to Gilead that he liberated 22 women in exchange of no one? Is Nick powerful enough to be able to justify the loss of a traitor to the regime that was in his custody? Was it necessary to make publicity of the murder by sending Serena a Finger? Looks like in season 5 we will have June on the run again. But I don't give up the hope that the writers will manage to unwrap this tidy and neat bow that concealed all the tensions built throughout this season.

I'm still a fan, but....
tommymoses-8211017 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show has been pleasant to view over the years, but that has diminished. The tension just isnt there anymore. We know june is always going to get what she wants, no matter how ridiculously she gets it. Others have mentioned the plot holes so I wont waste time. This show needs a good final season and to rest in the afterlife. Please no more close up of elizabeth moss's face, we GET it. Why do they still have all these side characters if june is going to be the only thing that matters? Would love to really see Lydia's story fleshed out. Or more of alexis bledel? What's the point of even having her in the show anymore if she only gets 5 scenes per season. Am I the only one wondering where June's mom is? Why did they even show us her a couple of seasons ago?

Not my favorite show but it's good
nennejoh18 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Here's what I would have changed. I know some of these things may have been due to corona restrictions but still.

1. No more close up shots of junes face please, unless it's for a purpose. Too many of them make them lose their edge. She's a good actress yes, we get it. Play around with different angles with the cameras.

2. I loved seeing her ptsd, dive into that more.

3. More side character action. The new young wife who is now a handmaid? Loooved that want to see more of that. Janine?? Give me more janine! And moira? What happened with her girlfriend? Did they have the fight? Dmily? How is she dealing with homelife? This show is so june focused and ever since she's become more and more unlikable i can't stand it.

4. Give june the ability to think LONG TERM. This woman never thinks about consequences, does she?

5. I would love to see what's going on in the rest of the world, I thought we'd get to see serena and fred maybe go to europe or something, what's going on ocer there? Or asia? Something!!

Yeah that's all i can think of for now. Good show, just now my favorite. I think mistly because I really dislike june, and now it seems like that want us too? But okay, if you're going to turn june into the villain, give us someone to cheer for. Like the pair up with june and janine, it was so good because june was nasty so we could cheer for janine. When june is just nasty alone there's no one to cheer for. Something to think about.

RUN!
allenmcd-9237116 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What a choice for Fred at the end, the Pistol or the Whistle. It was fitting that he chose the Whistle as maybe he thought that he could escape death regardless of what the Whistle entailed. I loved the "Oh crap" look on his face when he looked up the hill and saw Death in the form of the women coming down the hill towards him. June's command "Run" was perfect and showed Fred to be the coward that he was as he could not face the consequence of his actions.

The way a finale should end
kkhatieb-2640315 August 2021
This finale was so much better than most great shows of late. It had an ending that left you equally satisfied and wanting to know more, without being frustrated. Brilliant, emotive & relevant flashbacks.

Finally, some Justice for June.

June's insanity
Trigedasleng25 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Episode rating: 10 Season rating: 9

Some seem to think June is more or less 'normal' and that she's capable of taking responsible decisions. She's not. She lost it a long time ago - can't blame her really. If I had to guess when it all finally became to much for June, it would be all the months she had to spend all alone in the hospital room with her brain dead pregnant 'walking partner'.

After that ordeal she got the insane idea to rescue the children and you can really see how mad she is when saying she's gonna rescue "all of them" and "get them all out". She's still that insane person. I guess after all she's been through she'll never be 'good ol' June' again. With that in mind this ending and her decisions make sense.

Even though she's lost it, she's still June, she's still brave and intelligent; otherwise the Angels Flight or this ending would never have succeeded. To really understand this series and most of all June, you've need to understand her state of mind.

So, season five... Because of June's mad decisions I guess she'll flee and join up with the Nighthawks. I think we're in for another great season.

Warning: Spoilers
I loved the ending. Of course June wasn't going to just let him live and have a happy ending? She is what Gilead made her. She lost all control when she got to Canada and was supposed to just move on. Luke wanted her to be who she was before, but that person doesn't exist anymore and it shouldn't. She wanted her revenge and to feel powerful again. To make Waterford afraid and feel like she had.

Yes, Nick might get into trouble when a prisoner is lost. But he can just say Fred tried to run. It's not like he wasn't going to be killed anyway, so I doubt he'll get into too much trouble. Lawrence had no say in the matter as the Eyes control the border.

I thought the episode was great and I can't wait for the next season.

love this show, good ending
dollfacecrafter17 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Needs another season to tie things up, June needs to be with Nick, what passion and love they have, they together can do great things and find Hannah and get her out. Waterford deserved everything he got, Serena needs some punishment also. I love Joseph, he is snarky and mean, but has a good heart overall. Nick is so cute and passionate and serious, I just love his character. Need more handmaid scenes though, more like season 1 and 2, super scary stuff and Aunt Lydia has turned a little soft.

Not sure about it
logbinder17 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Hmm... If I was the writer for the show, I would have sent Fred and Serena back to Gilead and end it all in sort of "take your own medicine" fashion. Fred would likely be executed and Serena made into a handmade. No blood on hands of June and both of them get the treatment they sort of were imposing on others when they were in Gilead. All blame would be on Gilead, while you could show June to be the better person. I know the revenge might seem satisfying, but it's just so out of the blue and it bends all Canada and Gilead rules, which is sort of lame (for example in season 4 everything in Gilead works out in June's favor without at least anything leading up to it).

Also I would see June, now that she's in Canada, as some sort of leader, fighting against Gilead from Canada and it's just seems strange to me that, with all her contacts in Gilead (Lawrence, Nick) it was not explored more broadly and only for seeking vengeance. After 4 seasons that's not who I took the character of June for. I thought the character was more often than not altruistic, yes, bold, but not really cruel, which the last seconds showed her to be. But well, I might as well be wrong (so I guess I like the ending for being thought-provoking in a way).

Bottom line is it is a weird ending for me and I really feel that not seeing Serena made into a handmade after all that she imposed on June is just wasteful screenwriting.

Unrealistic
jennirebecca21 June 2021
Come on!!! She NEVER gets into any sort of trouble when she cause mayhem. I don't believe it. When she was in gilead she never got held accountable for any of her acts when ALL the other girls did. And now she is in Canada and can still get ahold of Lawrence and Nick whenever she wants, please. I hate where this is going. I can't stand the fact that she can do whatever she wants and it never held accountable for anything. Stupid.

A Satisfying Finale!
winstonsmith_8417 June 2021
Wow, I don't think the season could have ended better! No spoilers, but I just have to say I like where the show went here. It took us to a place unexpected yet at the same time, with all the foreshadowing, very expected. Well directed, great pace, superbly acted... all the little threads were tied together, all the season I felt like I was holding my breath and boom! All released in this episode. Some things were left hanging in the air to keep us interested for season 5, but enough came to a very satisfying end this season, which I must say, may be my favourite season of all so far.

Good job on season 4 cast and crew of The Handmaid's Take! If you are reading this, I salute you!
