When NBC recently resurrected its long-dormant “Deal or No Deal,” it came with a new format: “Deal or No Deal Island.” The game show was originally a “shiny floor” in-studio contest where players had to guess how much money was inside a large briefcase. The updated iteration takes things outdoors, raising the stakes by adding interpersonal dynamics, physical challenges and survival to the mix.

Exclusive: Details have emerged about the circumstances surrounding DJ Nurre’s rather abrupt exit from Endemol Shine North America. As Deadline reported exclusively Monday, Nurre, one of the company’s top unscripted executives, has left after six years.
According to sources, Nurre was let go for violating company policy following an investigation into alleged misconduct. I hear an outside firm was hired to examine claims of alleged sexual harassment related to an incident during production and its aftermath.
“As per our policy, we do not share specifics about employees leaving the company,” a spokesperson for Endemol Shine North America said in a statement to Deadline, declining further comment.
Nurre’s attorney, Michael Weinsten, issued a statement to Deadline about the firing.
“My client was terminated for allegedly violating company policy,” he said. “To be 100% clear, he vehemently denies having engaged in harassment of anyone in any form at any time in his career.

Exclusive: There probably has been no other division of WarnerMedia more impacted by the Discovery merger than the TNets, which consist of TNT, TBS and TruTV. In the span of a couple of months after the transaction was completed, they got new leadership, with Discovery’s Kathleen Finch adding them to her portfolio, while the previous toppers exited: General Manager Brett Weitz, SVP Original Programming Adrienne O’Riain, and unscripted chief Corie Henson.
The new owners quickly scrapped or ended scripted series such as Chad, Snowpiercer and Kill the Orange Bear, cut a number of unscripted series such as the already completed The Big D, and let go a number of big-ticket development.
As the dust has started to settle, Finch, Chairman and Chief Content Officer, US Networks Group, Warner Bros. Discovery, recently made an outreach to talent agencies and producers, laying out her plans for what original programming on the...

I know that this is going to sound strange, but I sometimes feel like the Sony PlayStation doesn’t get enough love. Yes, it was an incredibly successful console, but it was also a console designed and supported by a lot of people who were trying to figure things out as they went along. That approach led to a lot of big swings and big misses, but it also resulted in a shocking number of games that were truly ahead of their time.
Actually, the PS1 may just be the ‘90s console that ended up having the biggest impact on the future of the industry. While its status as such is a testament to its technological innovations and library of great games, it also speaks to the many PS1 games that somehow feel more relevant now than they ever have before.
Before we talk about those games, though, here are...

As evidenced by the meteoric resurgence of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” after its appearance on “Stranger Things 4,” the show’s soundtrack has become just as much a phenomenon as its thrilling plot.
With the final two episodes of Season 4 dropping on Netflix today, Legacy Recordings has released the complete soundtrack to “Stranger Things 4” in digital and physical forms. The album contains six additional songs, including an extended version of Bryce Miller and Alloy Tracks’ remix of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart),” featuring the band’s singer Steve Perry.
“I was stunned at how cool it was,” Perry said of the original remix in a statement. “I found out that Bryce Miller and Troy MacCubbin had created it and told them how much I loved it. One week later, I had an idea for an extended version, so I called Bryce and we assembled our extended remix.

A lot of you could — and did — see John Cena last night. And Nicole Byer, too, as the duo hosts the rebooted “Wipeout,” which officially launched Thursday on TBS. We say “officially,” because the series premiere did technically air as a sneak peek two days earlier.
Thursday’s 9 p.m. premiere drew 1.1 million total viewers, according to Nielsen, with 432,000 of them coming from the key adults 18-49 demographic. That demo tally makes this “Wipeout” the No. 1 new unscripted offering on cable television, beating fellow freshman TBS series “The Go Big Show,” which opened to 302,000 viewers in the key demo.
The Tuesday sneak peek earned 775,000 total viewers, with 369,000 of them from the main demo. You may be wondering why what was technically the first airing of Episode 1 didn’t outdo the official premiere. While Tuesday’s special preview had a great lead-in — the UCLA vs. Michigan post-game show — the “Wipeout” episode...

John Cena played a big role in saving the day for a little boy and his sister during a scary choking situation. According to ABC affiliate Wnep, Pennsylvania native Jaxson Demsey, 8, was sitting in the backseat of his father's car with his 20-month-old sister Leila when he noticed that she had started choking on a nugget. Thanks to an episode of Nickelodeon show hidden camera The Substitute, in which John, who now hosts Wipeout, stepped in as a substitute teacher and taught a classroom of kids first aid on a dummy, Jaxson knew just what to do to help his sister. Jaxson told CBS affiliate Wyou of the scary situation, "It made me feel scared because I thought...

When “Wipeout” creator Matt Kunitz began planning the show’s revival for TBS, he knew one element had to return: Those iconic, large red balls. Everything else could be updated — and has been, from new hosts John Cena and Nicole Byer to a revised game play that now features teams of two.
“Our marching orders were to make it bigger, bolder, edgier,” Kunitz says of the show, which returns April 1. “Bigger and bolder, that’s easy. That’s the design of the course, which had to be more competitive and more athletic. And edgier, that really is about our hosts.”
But bigger and bolder in the time of Covid-19 meant a major undertaking for the new “Wipeout.” Another safety issue the show faced in its return was the death of a 38-year-old contestant on set last year.
Nonetheless, the escapist nature of “Wipeout” seemed ripe for return in these uncertain times.

The CW, TNT and TBS are set to continue to cross promote each other’s originals – the latest example of cross promotion between the corporate sibling.
TNT will air the premiere of The CW’s Kung Fu a few days after its premiere on the youth-skewing broadcast network, while The CW will run an encore presentation of TBS’ non-scripted entertainment format Wipeout.
It comes after The CW aired an episode of TBS’ Go-Big Show and TNT ran the premiere of The CW’s Superman & Lois last month.
The premiere of martial arts drama Kung Fu, which follows a young Chinese-American woman who drops out of college and go on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China, will air on TNT on Sunday April 11 at 10pm. This follows its debut on The CW on April 7.
