Never Outstay A Welcome
Rabical-9117 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Reg returns home from the market only to meeted by Irene uncharacteristically making a fuss over him. Eventually he discovers that her brother Clive and his snooty wife Wendy have sold their house but the seller of the house they were planning to move into has not yet handed over the keys. Reg is not keen on having Clive and Wendy to stay. They eat Reg and Irene out of house and home and the house is festooned with too many of Clive's house plants. In desperation, Reg tries to bribe the estate agent handling Clive's affair in order to get the seller to get a move on, without success.

Reg even tries borrowing a dog from Old Wol's sister to frighten Clive and Wendy away once and for all. However, the dog is none other than a poodle and not a great dane ( as Reg was expecting it to be )...

A good episode, best enjoyed by anyone who has found themselves dealing with unwanted house guests. Clive truly is a pain in the neck of the highest order. Tim Barrett was not one of my favourite actors I'm sorry to say. He played every character in everything he's been in in the same hammed up, irritating way. John Carlin plays the camp estate agent.

Funniest bit - Irene trying to assure Reg that Clive and Wendy are only to stay for one night.

REG: The first world war was supposed to be over by Christmas. It took them four years!

IRENE: This isn't the first world war!

REG: No, but it'll be the third if they move in here!
