A young widow, imagining that it would hurt her chances with her wealthy fiancé, keeps her son's existence a secret. After their marriage the son is supposed to have perished in a fire. However he has escaped and is known as the newsboy tenor. The husband admires his singing and invites him to his office, where his mother recognizes him and confesses.
