Season 1 was good but it looks like season 2 has the chance to be great. The first season was Ramy just being wrapped up in his own dramas: religious, romantic, familial, work, etc.
I've seen plenty of shows that are like that, and it's not very fresh and interesting so I'm enthusiastic about getting away from that, with Ramy directing his energies outwards and really connecting with people around him, letting their varied dramas carry this series forward.
Somehow Ramy managed to land the esteemed actor Mahershala Ali for a recurring role that looks like it's going to take the series to the next level.
